27 (A)But I discipline my body and (B)bring it into subjection, lest, when I have preached to others, I myself should become (C)disqualified.

10 Moreover, brethren, I do not want you to be unaware that all our fathers were under (D)the cloud, all passed through (E)the sea, 2 all were baptized into Moses in the cloud and in the sea, 3 all ate the same (F)spiritual food, 4 and all drank the same (G)spiritual drink. For they drank of that spiritual Rock that followed them, and that Rock was Christ. 5 But with most of them God was not well pleased, for their bodies (H)were scattered in the wilderness.
6 Now these things became our examples, to the intent that we should not lust after evil things as (I)they also lusted. 7 (J)And do not become idolaters as were some of them. As it is written, (K)“The people sat down to eat and drink, and rose up to play.” 8 (L)Nor let us commit sexual immorality, as (M)some of them did, and (N)in one day twenty-three thousand fell; 9 nor let us [a]tempt Christ, as (O)some of them also tempted, and (P)were destroyed by serpents; 10 nor complain, as (Q)some of them also complained, and (R)were destroyed by (S)the destroyer. 11 Now [b]all these things happened to them as examples, and (T)they were written for our [c]admonition, (U)upon whom the ends of the ages have come.
12 Therefore (V)let him who thinks he stands take heed lest he fall. 13 No temptation has overtaken you except such as is common to man; but (W)God is faithful, (X)who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will also make the way of escape, that you may be able to [d]bear it.

27 but I strictly discipline (A)my body and make it my slave, so that, after I have preached to others, I myself will not be disqualified.
Avoid Israel’s Mistakes
10 For (B)I do not want you to be unaware, brothers and sisters, that our fathers were all (C)under the cloud and they all (D)passed through the sea; 2 and they all were (E)baptized into Moses in the cloud and in the sea; 3 and they all (F)ate the same spiritual food, 4 and all (G)drank the same spiritual drink, for they were drinking from a spiritual rock which followed them; and the rock was [a]Christ. 5 Nevertheless, with most of them God was not pleased; for their dead bodies were (H)spread out in the wilderness.
6 Now these things happened as (I)examples for us, so that we would not crave evil things as (J)they indeed craved them. 7 Do not be (K)idolaters, as some of them were; as it is written: “(L)The people sat down to eat and to drink, and rose up to (M)play.” 8 Nor are we to commit sexual immorality, as (N)some of them [b]did, and (O)twenty-three thousand fell in one day. 9 Nor are we to put the Lord to the test, as (P)some of them [c]did, and were killed by the snakes. 10 Nor (Q)grumble, as some of them [d]did, and (R)were killed by the (S)destroyer. 11 Now these things happened to them as an (T)example, and (U)they were written for our instruction, upon whom (V)the ends of the ages have come. 12 Therefore let the one who (W)thinks he stands watch out that he does not fall. 13 No temptation has overtaken you except something common to mankind; and (X)God is faithful, [e]so He will not allow you to be (Y)tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will provide the way of escape also, so that you will be able to endure it.
