1 Corinthians 10:14-33

Flee from Idolatry
14 Therefore, my beloved, (A)flee from idolatry. 15 I speak as to (B)wise men; judge for yourselves what I say. 16 (C)The cup of blessing which we bless, is it not the [a]communion of the blood of Christ? (D)The bread which we break, is it not the communion of the body of Christ? 17 For (E)we, though many, are one bread and one body; for we all partake of that one bread.
18 Observe (F)Israel (G)after the flesh: (H)Are not those who eat of the sacrifices [b]partakers of the altar? 19 What am I saying then? (I)That an idol is anything, or what is offered to idols is anything? 20 Rather, that the things which the Gentiles (J)sacrifice (K)they sacrifice to demons and not to God, and I do not want you to have fellowship with demons. 21 (L)You cannot drink the cup of the Lord and (M)the cup of demons; you cannot partake of the (N)Lord’s table and of the table of demons. 22 Or do we (O)provoke the Lord to jealousy? (P)Are we stronger than He?

23 All things are lawful [c]for me, but not all things are (R)helpful; all things are lawful for me, but not all things [d]edify. 24 Let no one seek his own, but each one (S)the other’s well-being.
25 (T)Eat whatever is sold in the meat market, asking no questions for conscience’ sake; 26 for (U)“the earth is the Lord’s, and all its fullness.”
27 If any of those who do not believe invites you to dinner, and you desire to go, (V)eat whatever is set before you, asking no question for conscience’ sake. 28 But if anyone says to you, “This was offered to idols,” do not eat it (W)for the sake of the one who told you, and for conscience’ sake; [e]for (X)“the earth is the Lord’s, and all its fullness.” 29 “Conscience,” I say, not your own, but that of the other. For (Y)why is my liberty judged by another man’s conscience? 30 But if I partake with thanks, why am I evil spoken of for the food (Z)over which I give thanks?
31 (AA)Therefore, whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God. 32 (AB)Give no offense, either to the Jews or to the Greeks or to the church of God, 33 just (AC)as I also please all men in all things, not seeking my own profit, but the profit of many, that they may be saved.

17 οτι εις αρτος εν σωμα οι πολλοι εσμεν οι γαρ παντες εκ του ενος αρτου μετεχομεν

24 μηδεις το εαυτου ζητειτω αλλα το του ετερου εκαστος
25 παν το εν μακελλω πωλουμενον εσθιετε μηδεν ανακρινοντες δια την συνειδησιν
26 του γαρ κυριου η γη και το πληρωμα αυτης
27 ει δε τις καλει υμας των απιστων και θελετε πορευεσθαι παν το παρατιθεμενον υμιν εσθιετε μηδεν ανακρινοντες δια την συνειδησιν
28 εαν δε τις υμιν ειπη τουτο ειδωλοθυτον εστιν μη εσθιετε δι εκεινον τον μηνυσαντα και την συνειδησιν του γαρ κυριου η γη και το πληρωμα αυτης
29 συνειδησιν δε λεγω ουχι την εαυτου αλλα την του ετερου ινα τι γαρ η ελευθερια μου κρινεται υπο αλλης συνειδησεως
30 ει δε εγω χαριτι μετεχω τι βλασφημουμαι υπερ ου εγω ευχαριστω
31 ειτε ουν εσθιετε ειτε πινετε ειτε τι ποιειτε παντα εις δοξαν θεου ποιειτε
32 απροσκοποι γινεσθε και ιουδαιοις και ελλησιν και τη εκκλησια του θεου
33 καθως καγω παντα πασιν αρεσκω μη ζητων το εμαυτου συμφερον αλλα το των πολλων ινα σωθωσιν

14 Therefore, my (A)beloved, flee from (B)idolatry. 15 I speak as to wise people; you then, judge what I say. 16 Is the (C)cup of blessing which we bless not a sharing in the blood of Christ? Is the (D)bread which we break not a sharing in the body of Christ? 17 Since there is one loaf, we (E)who are many are one body; for we all partake of the one loaf. 18 Look at [a]the people of (F)Israel; are those who (G)eat the sacrifices not partners in the altar? 19 What do I mean then? That food sacrificed to idols is anything, or (H)that an idol is [b]anything? 20 No, but I say that things which the Gentiles sacrifice, they (I)sacrifice to demons and not to God; and I do not want you to become partners with demons. 21 (J)You cannot drink the cup of the Lord and the cup of demons; you cannot partake of the table of the Lord and (K)the table of demons. 22 Or do we (L)provoke the Lord to jealousy? 23 (N)All things are permitted, but not all things are of benefit. All things are permitted, but not all things [c](O)build people up. 24 No one is to (P)seek his own advantage, but rather that of his [d]neighbor. 25 (Q)Eat anything that is sold in the meat market without asking questions, for the sake of conscience; 26 (R)for the earth is the Lord’s, and [e]all it contains. 27 If (S)one of the unbelievers invites you and you want to go, (T)eat anything that is set before you without asking questions, for the sake of conscience. 28 But (U)if anyone says to you, “This is meat sacrificed to idols,” do not eat it, for the sake of that one who informed you and for the sake of conscience; 29 Now by “conscience” I do not mean your own, but the other person’s; for (V)why is my freedom judged by another’s conscience? 30 If I partake with thankfulness, (W)why am I slandered about that for which I (X)give thanks?
31 Therefore, whether you eat or drink, or (Y)whatever you do, do all things for the glory of God. 32 (Z)Do not offend Jews or Greeks, or (AA)the church of God; 33 just as I also (AB)please everyone in all things, (AC)not seeking my own benefit but the benefit of the many, (AD)so that they may be saved.
