If I have the gift of (A)prophecy and know all (B)mysteries and all (C)knowledge, and if I have (D)all faith so as to (E)remove mountains, but do not have love, I am nothing. And if I (F)give away all my possessions to charity, and if I (G)surrender my body so that I may [a]glory, but do not have love, it does me no good.

Love (H)is patient, love is kind, it (I)is not jealous; love does not brag, it is not (J)arrogant. It does not act disgracefully, it (K)does not seek its own benefit; it is not provoked, (L)does not keep an account of a wrong suffered, (M)it does not rejoice in unrighteousness, but (N)rejoices with the truth; it [b](O)keeps every confidence, it believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.

Love never fails; but if there are gifts of [c](P)prophecy, they will be done away with; if there are (Q)tongues, they will cease; if there is knowledge, it will be done away with.

  1. 1 Corinthians 13:3 Some manuscripts body to the flames

And though I have the gift of prophecy, and understand all mysteries, and all knowledge; and though I have all faith, so that I could remove mountains, and have not charity, I am nothing.

And though I bestow all my goods to feed the poor, and though I give my body to be burned, and have not charity, it profiteth me nothing.

Charity suffereth long, and is kind; charity envieth not; charity vaunteth not itself, is not puffed up,

Doth not behave itself unseemly, seeketh not her own, is not easily provoked, thinketh no evil;

Rejoiceth not in iniquity, but rejoiceth in the truth;

Beareth all things, believeth all things, hopeth all things, endureth all things.

Charity never faileth: but whether there be prophecies, they shall fail; whether there be tongues, they shall cease; whether there be knowledge, it shall vanish away.
