1 Corinthians 1:21-24New American Standard Bible (NASB)
21 For since in the wisdom of God the world through its wisdom did not come to know God, God was well-pleased through the foolishness of the [a]message preached to save those who believe.22 For indeed Jews ask for [b]signs and Greeks search for wisdom;23 but we preach [c]Christ crucified, to Jews a stumbling block and to Gentiles foolishness,24 but to those who are the called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God and the wisdom of God.
41 So then, those who had received his word were baptized; and that day there were added about three thousand [a]souls.42 They were continually devoting themselves to the apostles’ teaching and to fellowship, to the breaking of bread and [b]to prayer.
43 [c]Everyone kept feeling a sense of awe; and many wonders and [d]signs were taking place through the apostles.44 And all those who had believed [e]were together and had all things in common;45 and they began selling their property and possessions and were sharing them with all, as anyone might have need.
