David Blesses Yahweh

10 So David blessed Yahweh in the sight of all the assembly; and David said, “Blessed are You, O Yahweh, the God of Israel our father, from everlasting to everlasting. 11 (A)Yours, O Yahweh, is the greatness and the [a]power and the glory and the [b]victory and the majesty, indeed everything that is in the heavens and the earth; Yours is the kingdom, O Yahweh, and You exalt Yourself as head over all. 12 (B)Both riches and honor come from You, and You rule over all, and (C)in Your hand is power and might; and it lies in Your hand to make great and to strengthen everyone. 13 So now, our God, we are thanking You and praising Your glorious name.

14 “But who am I and who are my people that we should [c]be able to offer as willingly as this? For all things come from You, and from Your hand we have given You. 15 For (D)we are sojourners before You, and foreign residents, like all our fathers were; (E)our days on the earth are like a shadow, and there is no hope. 16 O Yahweh our God, all this abundance that we have prepared to build You a house for Your holy name, it is from Your hand, and all is Yours. 17 And I know, O my God, that (F)You try the heart and (G)delight in uprightness. I, in the uprightness of my heart, have willingly offered all these things. So now with gladness I have seen Your people, who are present here, make their offerings willingly to You. 18 O Yahweh, the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Israel, our fathers, keep this forever in the [d]intentions of the heart of Your people, and prepare their heart to You; 19 and (H)give to my son Solomon a whole heart to keep Your commandments, Your testimonies and Your statutes, and to do them all, and (I)to build the [e]temple, for which I have made preparation.”

20 Then David said to all the assembly, “Now bless Yahweh your God.” And (J)all the assembly blessed Yahweh, the God of their fathers, and (K)bowed low and prostrated themselves to Yahweh and to the king.

David’s Prayer

10 Then David blessed the Lord in the sight of all the assembly. David said,

May you be blessed, Lord God of our father Israel, from eternity to eternity. 11 Yours, Lord, is the greatness and the power and the glory and the splendor and the majesty, for everything in the heavens and on earth belongs to you. Yours, Lord, is the kingdom, and you are exalted as head over all.(A) 12 Riches and honor come from you, and you are the ruler of everything.(B) Power and might are in your hand, and it is in your hand to make great and to give strength to all.(C) 13 Now therefore, our God, we give you thanks and praise your glorious name.

14 But who am I, and who are my people, that we should be able to give as generously as this? For everything comes from you, and we have given you only what comes from your own hand.[a] 15 For we are aliens and temporary residents in your presence as were all our ancestors.(D) Our days on earth are like a shadow, without hope.(E) 16 Lord our God, all this wealth that we’ve provided for building you a house for your holy name comes from your hand; everything belongs to you. 17 I know, my God, that you test the heart(F) and that you are pleased with what is right.(G) I have willingly given all these things with an upright heart, and now I have seen your people who are present[b] here giving joyfully and[c] willingly to you. 18 Lord God of Abraham, Isaac, and Israel, our ancestors, keep this desire forever in the thoughts of the hearts of your people, and confirm their hearts toward you. 19 Give my son Solomon an undivided heart to keep and to carry out all your commands, your decrees, and your statutes,(H) and to build the building for which I have made provision.(I)

20 Then David said to the whole assembly, “Blessed be the Lord your God.” So the whole assembly praised the Lord God of their ancestors.(J) They knelt low and paid homage to the Lord and the king.(K)
