Sons of Ephraim

20 (A)The sons of Ephraim were Shuthelah and [a]Bered his son, Tahath his son, Eleadah his son, Tahath his son, 21 Zabad his son, Shuthelah his son, and Ezer and Elead whom the men of Gath who were born in the land killed, because they came down to take their livestock. 22 And their father Ephraim (B)mourned many days, and his relatives (C)came to comfort him. 23 Then he went in to his wife, and she conceived and bore a son, and he named him [b]Beriah, because calamity had come upon his house. 24 And his daughter was Sheerah, and (D)she built lower and upper Beth-horon, also Uzzen-sheerah. 25 Rephah was his son along with Resheph, Telah his son, Tahan his son, 26 Ladan his son, Ammihud his son, Elishama his son, 27 [c]Non his son and (E)Joshua his son.

28 (F)Now their possessions and settlements were Bethel with its towns, and to the east [d]Naaran, and to the west Gezer with its towns, and Shechem with its towns as far as [e]Ayyah with its towns, 29 and along the [f]borders of the sons of Manasseh, Beth-shean with its towns, Taanach with its towns, Megiddo with its towns, Dor with its towns. In these lived the (G)sons of Joseph the son of Israel.

The Family of Ephraim

20 (A)The sons of Ephraim were Shuthelah, Bered his son, Tahath his son, Eladah his son, Tahath his son, 21 Zabad his son, Shuthelah his son, and Ezer and Elead. The men of Gath who were born in that land killed them because they came down to take away their cattle. 22 Then Ephraim their father mourned many days, and his brethren came to comfort him.

23 And when he went in to his wife, she conceived and bore a son; and he called his name [a]Beriah, because tragedy had come upon his house. 24 Now his daughter was Sheerah, who built Lower and Upper (B)Beth Horon and Uzzen Sheerah; 25 and Rephah was his son, as well as Resheph, and Telah his son, Tahan his son, 26 Laadan his son, Ammihud his son, (C)Elishama his son, 27 [b]Nun his son, and (D)Joshua his son.

28 Now their (E)possessions and dwelling places were Bethel and its towns: to the east [c]Naaran, to the west Gezer and its towns, and Shechem and its towns, as far as [d]Ayyah and its towns; 29 and by the borders of the children of (F)Manasseh were Beth Shean and its towns, Taanach and its towns, (G)Megiddo and its towns, Dor and its towns. Ephraim

20 The descendants of Ephraim:(A)

Shuthelah, Bered his son,

Tahath his son, Eleadah his son,

Tahath his son, 21 Zabad his son

and Shuthelah his son.

Ezer and Elead were killed by the native-born men of Gath, when they went down to seize their livestock. 22 Their father Ephraim mourned for them many days, and his relatives came to comfort him. 23 Then he made love to his wife again, and she became pregnant and gave birth to a son. He named him Beriah,[a] because there had been misfortune in his family. 24 His daughter was Sheerah, who built Lower and Upper Beth Horon(B) as well as Uzzen Sheerah.

25 Rephah was his son, Resheph his son,[b]

Telah his son, Tahan his son,

26 Ladan his son, Ammihud his son,

Elishama his son, 27 Nun his son

and Joshua his son.

28 Their lands and settlements included Bethel and its surrounding villages, Naaran to the east, Gezer(C) and its villages to the west, and Shechem and its villages all the way to Ayyah and its villages. 29 Along the borders of Manasseh were Beth Shan,(D) Taanach, Megiddo and Dor,(E) together with their villages. The descendants of Joseph son of Israel lived in these towns.
