24 These were the sons of Levi according to the house of their fathers, the heads of the families,[a] according to their enrollment, by the number of the names, according to their head count, who were to do the work of the service of the house of Yahweh, from twenty years old and above. 25 For David said, “Yahweh, the God of Israel, has given rest to his people, and he dwells in Jerusalem forever. 26 And also, the Levites do not need to carry the tabernacle and all its vessels for its service.” 27 For by the last words of David, they are the number of the sons of Levi, from twenty years old and above. 28 For their station was to assist[b] the sons of Aaron with the service of the house of Yahweh, over the courtyards, over the chambers, and over the cleansing of all the sanctified objects, and with the work of the service of the house of God, 29 and with the rows of bread, the flour, the grain offering, the wafers of unleavened bread, the baked offering, the offering mixed with oil, and for all the amounts and measurements. 30 And they were to stand every morning,[c] thanking and praising Yahweh, and likewise in the evening, 31 and for every burnt offering offered to Yahweh, on Sabbaths, on new moon festivals, and at the appointed feasts, according to the customary number required of them,[d] regularly before Yahweh. 32 And they shall keep the responsibility of the tent of assembly,[e] the responsibility of the sanctified objects, and the responsibility of the sons of Aaron, their brothers, to serve the house of Yahweh.

24 (A)These were the sons of Levi by their fathers' houses, the heads of fathers' houses (B)as they were listed according to the number of the names of the individuals from (C)twenty years old and upward who were to do the work for the service of the house of the Lord. 25 For David said, “The Lord, the God of Israel, (D)has given rest to his people, and he dwells in Jerusalem forever. 26 And so the Levites no longer need (E)to carry the tabernacle or any of the things for its service.” 27 For by the last words of David the sons of Levi were numbered from (F)twenty years old and upward. 28 For their duty was to assist the sons of Aaron for the service of the house of the Lord, having the care of the courts and the chambers, the cleansing of all that is holy, and any work for the service of the house of God. 29 Their duty was also to assist with the (G)showbread, the (H)flour for the grain offering, the wafers of unleavened bread, the (I)baked offering, the (J)offering mixed with oil, and all (K)measures of quantity or size. 30 And they were to stand every morning, thanking and praising the Lord, and likewise at evening, 31 and whenever burnt offerings were offered to the Lord (L)on Sabbaths, (M)new moons, and feast days, (N)according to the number required of them, regularly before the Lord. 32 Thus (O)they were to keep charge of the tent of meeting and the sanctuary, and to attend the sons of Aaron, their brothers, for the (P)service of the house of the Lord.

24 These were the descendants of Levi by their families—the heads of families as they were registered under their names and counted individually, that is, the workers twenty years old or more(A) who served in the temple of the Lord. 25 For David had said, “Since the Lord, the God of Israel, has granted rest(B) to his people and has come to dwell in Jerusalem forever, 26 the Levites no longer need to carry the tabernacle or any of the articles used in its service.”(C) 27 According to the last instructions of David, the Levites were counted from those twenty years old or more.

28 The duty of the Levites was to help Aaron’s descendants in the service of the temple of the Lord: to be in charge of the courtyards, the side rooms, the purification(D) of all sacred things and the performance of other duties at the house of God. 29 They were in charge of the bread set out on the table,(E) the special flour for the grain offerings,(F) the thin loaves made without yeast, the baking and the mixing, and all measurements of quantity and size.(G) 30 They were also to stand every morning to thank and praise the Lord. They were to do the same in the evening(H) 31 and whenever burnt offerings were presented to the Lord on the Sabbaths, at the New Moon(I) feasts and at the appointed festivals.(J) They were to serve before the Lord regularly in the proper number and in the way prescribed for them.

32 And so the Levites(K) carried out their responsibilities for the tent of meeting,(L) for the Holy Place and, under their relatives the descendants of Aaron, for the service of the temple of the Lord.(M)
