Maintenant tu diras à mon serviteur David: Ainsi parle l'Éternel des armées: Je t'ai pris au pâturage, derrière les brebis, pour que tu fusses chef de mon peuple d'Israël;

j'ai été avec toi partout où tu as marché, j'ai exterminé tous tes ennemis devant toi, et j'ai rendu ton nom semblable au nom des grands qui sont sur la terre;

Now therefore, thus shall you say to My servant David, ‘Thus says the Lord of hosts: “I took you (A)from the sheepfold, from following the sheep, to be [a]ruler over My people Israel. And I have been with you wherever you have gone, and have cut off all your enemies from before you, and have [b]made you a name like the name of the great men who are on the earth. Moreover I will appoint a place for My people Israel, and will (B)plant them, that they may dwell in a place of their own and move no more; nor shall the sons of wickedness oppress them anymore, as previously, 10 since the time that I commanded judges to be over My people Israel. Also I will subdue all your enemies. Furthermore I tell you that the Lord will build you a [c]house. 11 And it shall be, when your days are (C)fulfilled, when you must [d]go to be with your fathers, that I will set up your (D)seed after you, who will be of your sons; and I will establish his kingdom. 12 (E)He shall build Me a house, and I will establish his throne forever. 13 (F)I will be his Father, and he shall be My son; and I will not take My mercy away from him, (G)as I took it from him who was before you. 14 And (H)I will establish him in My house and in My kingdom forever; and his throne shall be established forever.” ’ ”

15 According to all these words and according to all this vision, so Nathan spoke to David.

Now therefore thus shalt thou say unto my servant David, Thus saith the Lord of hosts, I took thee from the sheepcote, even from following the sheep, that thou shouldest be ruler over my people Israel:

And I have been with thee whithersoever thou hast walked, and have cut off all thine enemies from before thee, and have made thee a name like the name of the great men that are in the earth.

Also I will ordain a place for my people Israel, and will plant them, and they shall dwell in their place, and shall be moved no more; neither shall the children of wickedness waste them any more, as at the beginning,

10 And since the time that I commanded judges to be over my people Israel. Moreover I will subdue all thine enemies. Furthermore I tell thee that the Lord will build thee an house.

Now, therefore, thus shall you say to my servant David, ‘Thus says the Lord of hosts, I took you from the pasture, from following the sheep, to be prince over my people Israel, and I have been with you wherever you have gone and have cut off all your enemies from before you. And I will make for you a name, like the name of the great ones of the earth. And violent men shall waste them no more, as formerly, 10 from the time that I appointed judges over my people Israel. And I (A)will subdue all your enemies. Moreover, I declare to you that the Lord will build you a house. 11 When your days are fulfilled to walk with your fathers, I will raise up your offspring after you, one of your own sons, and I will establish his kingdom. 12 He shall build a house for me, and I will establish his throne forever. 13 (B)I will be to him a father, and he shall be to me a son. I will not take my steadfast love from him, (C)as I took it from him who was before you, 14 but I will confirm him in my house and in my kingdom forever, and his throne shall be established forever.’” 15 In accordance with all these words, and in accordance with all this vision, Nathan spoke to David.
