3 Now the serpent was more subtle than any beast of the field which the Lord God had made. And he said unto the woman, “Yea, hath God said, ‘Ye shall not eat of every tree of the garden’?”

² And the woman said unto the serpent, “We may eat of the fruit of the trees of the garden,

³ but of the fruit of the tree which is in the midst of the garden, God hath said, ‘Ye shall not eat of it, neither shall ye touch it,lest ye die.’”

⁴ And the serpent said unto the woman, “Ye shall not surely die;

⁵ for God doth know that in the day ye eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as gods, knowing good and evil.”

⁶ And when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree to be desired to make one wise, she took of the fruit thereof and ate, and gave also unto her husband with her; and he ate.

⁷ And the eyes of them both were opened, and they knew that they were naked; and they sewed fig leaves together, and made themselves things to gird about.

⁸ And they heard the voice of the Lord God, walking in the garden in the cool of the day. And Adam and his wife hid themselves from the presence of the Lord God amongst the trees of the garden.

⁹ And the Lord God called unto Adam and said unto him, “Where art thou?”

¹⁰ And he said, “I heard Thy voice in the garden, and I was afraid because I was naked; and I hid myself.”

¹¹ And He said, “Who told thee that thou wast naked? Hast thou eaten of the tree whereof I commanded thee that thou shouldest not eat?”

¹² And the man said, “The woman whom Thou gavest to be with me, she gave me of the tree, and I ate.”

¹³ And the Lord God said unto the woman, “What is this that thou hast done?” And the woman said, “The serpent beguiled me, and I ate.”

¹⁴ And the Lord God said unto the serpent, “Because thou hast done this, thou art cursed above all cattle, and above every beast of the field. Upon thy belly shalt thou go, and dust shalt thou eat all the days of thy life.

¹⁵ And I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her Seed; It shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise His heel.”

¹⁶ Unto the woman He said, “I will greatly multiply thy sorrow and thy conception. In sorrow thou shalt bring forth children; and thy desire shall be to thy husband, and he shall rule over thee.”

¹⁷ And unto Adam He said, “Because thou hast hearkened unto the voice of thy wife, and hast eaten of the tree of which I commanded thee, saying, ‘Thou shalt not eat of it,’ cursed is the ground for thy sake; in sorrow shalt thou eat of it all the days of thy life.

¹⁸ Thorns also and thistles shall it bring forth to thee, and thou shalt eat the herb of the field.

¹⁹ In the sweat of thy face shalt thou eat bread till thou return unto the ground, for out of it wast thou taken; for dust thou art, and unto dust shalt thou return.”

²⁰ And Adam called his wife’s name Eve, because she was the mother of all living.

²¹ Unto Adam also and to his wife did the Lord God make coats of skins, and clothed them.

²² And the Lord God said, “Behold, the man has become as one of Us, to know good and evil. And now, lest he put forth his hand and take also of the tree of life, and eat and live for ever”—

²³ therefore the Lord God sent him forth from the Garden of Eden to till the ground from whence he was taken.

²⁴ So He drove out the man; and He placed at the east of the Garden of Eden cherubims and a flaming sword which turned every way, to keep the way of the tree of life.

8 And God remembered Noah, and every living thing, and all the cattle that were with him in the ark; and God made a wind to pass over the earth, and the waters were assuaged.

² The fountains also of the deep and the windows of heaven were stopped, and the rain from heaven was restrained.

³ And the waters returned from off the earth continually, and after the end of the hundred and fifty days the waters were abated.

⁴ And the ark rested in the seventh month, on the seventeenth day of the month, upon the mountains of Ararat.

⁵ And the waters decreased continually until the tenth month. In the tenth month, on the first day of the month, were the tops of the mountains seen.

⁶ And it came to pass at the end of forty days, that Noah opened the window of the ark which he had made.

⁷ And he sent forth a raven, which went forth to and fro, until the waters were dried up from off the earth.

⁸ Also he sent forth a dove from him to see if the waters were abated from off the face of the ground;

⁹ but the dove found no rest for the sole of her foot, and she returned unto him into the ark, for the waters were on the face of the whole earth. Then he put forth his hand and took her, and pulled her in unto him into the ark.

¹⁰ And he stayed yet another seven days, and again he sent forth the dove out of the ark.

¹¹ And the dove came in to him in the evening, and lo, in her mouth was an olive leaf plucked off; so Noah knew that the waters were abated from off the earth.

¹² And he stayed yet another seven days and sent forth the dove, which returned not again unto him any more.

¹³ And it came to pass in the six hundredth and first year, in the first month, the first day of the month, the waters were dried up from off the earth; and Noah removed the covering of the ark and looked, and behold, the face of the ground was dry.

¹⁴ And in the second month, on the seven and twentieth day of the month, was the earth dried.

¹⁵ And God spoke unto Noah, saying,

¹⁶ “Go forth from the ark, thou and thy wife, and thy sons and thy sons’ wives with thee.

¹⁷ Bring forth with thee every living thing that is with thee of all flesh, both of fowl and of cattle and of every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth, that they may breed abundantly on the earth, and be fruitful and multiply upon the earth.”

¹⁸ And Noah went forth, and his sons and his wife and his sons’ wives with him.

¹⁹ Every beast, every creeping thing, and every fowl, and whatsoever creepeth upon the earth, after their kinds, went forth out of the ark.

²⁰ And Noah built an altar unto the Lord, and took of every clean beast and of every clean fowl, and offered burnt offerings on the altar.

²¹ And the Lord smelled a sweet savor; and the Lord said in His heart, “I will not again curse the ground any more for man’s sake, for the imagination of man’s heart is evil from his youth; neither will I again smite any more every thing living, as I have done.

²² While the earth remaineth, seedtime and harvest, and cold and heat, and summer and winter, and day and night shall not cease.”

40 And the Lord spoke unto Moses, saying,

² “On the first day of the first month shalt thou set up the tabernacle of the tent of the congregation.

³ And thou shalt put therein the ark of the Testimony, and cover the ark with the veil.

⁴ And thou shalt bring in the table and set in order the things that are to be set in order upon it; and thou shalt bring in the candlestick and light the lamps thereof.

⁵ And thou shalt set the altar of gold for the incense before the ark of the Testimony, and put up the hanging of the door to the tabernacle.

⁶ And thou shalt set the altar of the burnt offering before the door of the tabernacle of the tent of the congregation.

⁷ And thou shalt set the laver between the tent of the congregation and the altar, and shalt put water therein.

⁸ And thou shalt set up the court round about, and hang up the hanging at the court gate.

⁹ And thou shalt take the anointing oil, and anoint the tabernacle and all that is therein, and shalt hallow it and all the vessels thereof; and it shall be holy.

¹⁰ And thou shalt anoint the altar of the burnt offering and all his vessels, and sanctify the altar; and it shall be an altar most holy.

¹¹ And thou shalt anoint the laver and his foot, and sanctify it.

¹² And thou shalt bring Aaron and his sons unto the door of the tabernacle of the congregation, and wash them with water.

¹³ And thou shalt put upon Aaron the holy garments, and anoint him and sanctify him, that he may minister unto Me in the priest’s office.

¹⁴ And thou shalt bring his sons and clothe them with coats;

¹⁵ and thou shalt anoint them, as thou didst anoint their father, that they may minister unto Me in the priest’s office. For their anointing shall surely be an everlasting priesthood throughout their generations.”

¹⁶ Thus did Moses: according to all that the Lord commanded him, so did he.

¹⁷ And it came to pass in the first month in the second year, on the first day of the month, that the tabernacle was reared up.

¹⁸ And Moses reared up the tabernacle, and fastened his sockets and set up the boards thereof, and put in the bars thereof and reared up his pillars.

¹⁹ And he spread abroad the tent over the tabernacle, and put the covering of the tent above upon it, as the Lord commanded Moses.

²⁰ And he took and put the testimony into the ark, and set the staves on the ark, and put the mercy seat above upon the ark.

²¹ And he brought the ark into the tabernacle, and set up the veil of the covering and covered the ark of the Testimony, as the Lord commanded Moses.

²² And he put the table in the tent of the congregation upon the side of the tabernacle northward, outside the veil.

²³ And he set the bread in order upon it before the Lord, as the Lord had commanded Moses.

²⁴ And he put the candlestick in the tent of the congregation opposite the table, on the side of the tabernacle southward.

²⁵ And he lighted the lamps before the Lord, as the Lord commanded Moses.

²⁶ And he put the golden altar in the tent of the congregation before the veil;

²⁷ and he burned sweet incense thereon, as the Lord commanded Moses.

²⁸ And he set up the hanging at the door of the tabernacle.

²⁹ And he put the altar of burnt offering by the door of the tabernacle of the tent of the congregation, and offered upon it the burnt offering and the meat offering, as the Lord commanded Moses.

³⁰ And he set the laver between the tent of the congregation and the altar, and put water there for washing.

³¹ And Moses and Aaron and his sons washed their hands and their feet thereat.

³² When they went into the tent of the congregation and when they came near unto the altar, they washed, as the Lord commanded Moses.

³³ And he reared up the court round about the tabernacle and the altar, and set up the hanging of the court gate. So Moses finished the work.

³⁴ Then a cloud covered the tent of the congregation, and the glory of the Lord filled the tabernacle.

³⁵ And Moses was not able to enter into the tent of the congregation because the cloud abode thereon, and the glory of the Lord filled the tabernacle.

³⁶ And when the cloud was taken up from over the tabernacle, the children of Israel went onward in all their journeys;

³⁷ but if the cloud were not taken up, then they journeyed not until the day that it was taken up.

³⁸ For the cloud of the Lord was upon the tabernacle by day and fire was on it by night, in the sight of all the house of Israel throughout all their journeys.

9 Then He called His twelve disciples together, and gave them power and authority over all devils and to cure diseases.

² And He sent them to preach the Kingdom of God and to heal the sick.

³ And He said unto them, “Take nothing for your journey, neither staves, nor pack, neither bread, neither money; neither have two coats apiece.

⁴ And whatsoever house ye enter into, there abide and thence depart.

⁵ And whosoever will not receive you, when ye go out of that city, shake off the very dust from your feet for a testimony against them.”

⁶ And they departed and went through the towns, preaching the Gospel and healing everywhere.

⁷ Now Herod the tetrarch heard of all that had been done by Him. And he was perplexed, because it was said by some that John was risen from the dead;

⁸ and by some that Elijah had appeared, and by others that one of the old prophets was risen again.

⁹ And Herod said, “John have I beheaded, but who is this of whom I hear such things?” And he desired to see Him.

¹⁰ And the apostles, when they had returned, told Him all that they had done. And He took them and went aside privately into a desert place belonging to the city called Bethsaida.

¹¹ And the people, when they learned of it, followed Him. And He received them and spoke unto them of the Kingdom of God, and healed those who had need of healing.

¹² And when the day began to wear away, then came the twelve and said unto Him, “Send the multitude away, that they may go into the towns and country round about and lodge and get victuals, for we are here in a desert place.

¹³ But He said unto them, “Give ye them to eat.” And they said, “We have no more than five loaves and two fishes, unless we should go and buy meat for all these people.”

¹⁴ For they were about five thousand men. And He said to His disciples, “Make them sit down by fifties in a company.”

¹⁵ And they did so, and made them all sit down.

¹⁶ Then He took the five loaves and the two fishes, and looking up to Heaven, He blessed them and broke, and gave to the disciples to set before the multitude.

¹⁷ And they ate and were all filled, and there were taken up of fragments that remained to them twelve baskets.

¹⁸ And it came to pass as He was alone praying, His disciples were with Him, and He asked them, saying, “Who say the people that I am?”

¹⁹ They answering said, “John the Baptist; but some say Elijah, and others say that one of the old prophets has risen again.”

²⁰ He said to them, “But who say ye that I am?” Peter answering said, “The Christ of God!”

²¹ And He strictly charged them and commanded them to tell no man this thing,

²² saying, “The Son of Man must suffer many things, and be rejected by the elders and the chief priests and scribes, and be slain and be raised the third day.”

²³ And He said to them all, “If any man will come after Me, let him deny himself and take up his cross daily, and follow Me.

²⁴ For whosoever will save his life shall lose it; but whosoever will lose his life for My sake, the same shall save it.

²⁵ For what is a man advantaged if he gain the whole world, and lose himself or be cast away?

²⁶ For whosoever shall be ashamed of Me and of My words, of him shall the Son of Man be ashamed when He shall come in His own glory and in His Father’s and of the holy angels.

²⁷ But I tell you in truth, there are some standing here that shall not taste of death till they see the Kingdom of God.”

²⁸ And it came to pass about eight days after these sayings, He took Peter and John and James, and went up onto a mountain to pray.

²⁹ And as He prayed, the appearance of His countenance was altered, and His raiment was white and glistening.

³⁰ And behold, there talked with Him two men, who were Moses and Elijah,

³¹ who appeared in glory and spoke of His decease which He should accomplish at Jerusalem.

³² But Peter and those who were with him were heavy with sleep. And when they were awake, they saw His glory and the two men who stood with Him.

³³ And it came to pass as they departed from Him, Peter said unto Jesus, “Master, it is good for us to be here; and let us make three tabernacles: one for Thee, and one for Moses, and one for Elijah” — not knowing what he was saying.

³⁴ While he thus spoke, there came a cloud and overshadowed them, and they were afraid as they entered into the cloud.

³⁵ And there came a voice out of the cloud, saying, “This Is My Beloved Son. Hear Him!”

³⁶ And when the voice was past, Jesus was found alone. And they kept silent, and told no man in those days any of those things which they had seen.

³⁷ And it came to pass that on the next day, when they had come down from the hill, many people met Him.

³⁸ And behold, a man of the company cried out, saying, “Master, I beseech Thee, look upon my son, for he is mine only child.

³⁹ And lo, a spirit taketh him, and he suddenly crieth out; and it teareth him so that he foameth again, and bruising him, hardly departeth from him.

⁴⁰ And I besought Thy disciples to cast him out, and they could not.”

⁴¹ And Jesus answering said, “O faithless and perverse generation, how long shall I be with you and suffer you? Bring thy son hither.”

⁴² And as he was yet coming, the devil threw him down and tore him. And Jesus rebuked the unclean spirit, and healed the child, and delivered him again to his father.

⁴³ And they were all amazed at the mighty power of God. But while they wondered every one at all the things which Jesus did, He said unto His disciples,

⁴⁴ “Let these sayings sink down into your ears, for the Son of Man shall be delivered into the hands of men.”

⁴⁵ But they understood not this saying, and it was hid from them, that they perceived it not; and they were afraid to ask Him about that saying.

⁴⁶ Then there arose a reasoning among them as to which of them should be greatest.

⁴⁷ And Jesus, perceiving the thought of their heart, took a child and set him by Him,

⁴⁸ and said unto them, “Whosoever shall receive this child in My name receiveth Me; and whosoever shall receive Me receiveth Him that sent Me. For he that is least among you all, the same shall be great.”

⁴⁹ And John answered and said, “Master, we saw one casting out devils in Thy name, and we forbad him, because he followeth not with us.”

⁵⁰ And Jesus said unto him, “Forbid him not; for he that is not against us, is for us.”

⁵¹ And it came to pass, when the time had come that He should be received up, He steadfastly set His face to go to Jerusalem,

⁵² and He sent messengers before His face. And they went and entered into a village of the Samaritans to make ready for Him.

⁵³ But they did not receive Him, because His face was set as though He would go to Jerusalem.

⁵⁴ And when His disciples James and John saw this, they said, “Lord, wilt Thou that we command fire to come down from heaven and consume them, even as Elijah did?”

⁵⁵ But He turned and rebuked them and said, “Ye know not what manner of spirit ye are of.

⁵⁶ For the Son of Man is not come to destroy men’s lives, but to save them.” And they went to another village.

⁵⁷ And it came to pass that, as they went along the way, a certain man said unto Him, “Lord, I will follow Thee whithersoever Thou goest.”

⁵⁸ And Jesus said unto him, “Foxes have holes, and birds of the air have nests, but the Son of Man hath nowhere to lay His head.”

⁵⁹ And He said unto another, “Follow Me.” But he said, “Lord, suffer me first to go and bury my father.”

⁶⁰ Jesus said unto him, “Let the dead bury their dead, but go thou and preach the Kingdom of God.”

⁶¹ And another also said, “Lord, I will follow Thee, but let me first go bid those farewell who are at home at my house.”

⁶² And Jesus said unto him, “No man, having put his hand to the plow and looking back, is fit for the Kingdom of God.”

14 “Let not your heart be troubled. Ye believe in God; believe also in Me.

² In My Father’s house are many mansions; if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you.

³ And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you unto Myself, that where I am, there ye may be also.

⁴ And whither I go ye know, and the way ye know.”

⁵ Thomas said unto Him, “Lord, we know not whither Thou goest; and how can we know the way?”

⁶ Jesus said unto him, “I am the Way, the Truth, and the Life; no man cometh unto the Father, but by Me.

⁷ If ye had known Me, ye should have known My Father also; and from henceforth ye know Him, and have seen Him.”

⁸ Philip said unto Him, “Lord, show us the Father, and it sufficeth us.”

⁹ Jesus said unto him, “Have I been so long a time with you, and yet hast thou not known Me, Philip? He that hath seen Me hath seen the Father; and how sayest thou then, ‘Show us the Father’?

¹⁰ Believest thou not that I am in the Father, and the Father in Me? The words that I speak unto you I speak not of Myself; but the Father that dwelleth in Me, He doeth the works.

¹¹ Believe Me that I am in the Father, and the Father in Me; or else believe Me for the very works’ sake.

¹² Verily, verily I say unto you, he that believeth in Me, the works that I do he shall do also; and greater works than these shall he do, because I go unto My Father.

¹³ And whatsoever ye shall ask in My name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son.

¹⁴ If ye shall ask anything in My name, I will do it.

¹⁵ “If ye love Me, keep My commandments.

¹⁶ And I will pray the Father, and He shall give you another Comforter, that He may abide with you for ever”

¹⁷ even the Spirit of Truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth Him not, neither knoweth Him. But ye know Him, for He dwelleth with you, and shall be in you.

¹⁸ “I will not leave you comfortless; I will come to you.

¹⁹ Yet a little while and the world seeth Me no more, but ye see Me. Because I live, ye shall live also.

²⁰ At that day ye shall know that I am in My Father, and you in Me, and I in you.

²¹ He that hath My commandments and keepeth them, he it is that loveth Me; and he that loveth Me shall be loved by My Father, and I will love him and will manifest Myself to him.”

²² Judas (not Iscariot) said unto Him, “Lord, how is it that Thou wilt manifest Thyself unto us, and not unto the world?”

²³ Jesus answered and said unto him, “If a man love Me, he will keep My words; and My Father will love him, and We will come unto him and make Our abode with him.

²⁴ He that loveth Me not, keepeth not My sayings. And the Word which you hear is not Mine, but the Father’s who sent Me.

²⁵ “These things have I spoken unto you, being yet present with you.

²⁶ But the Comforter, who is the Holy Ghost whom the Father will send in My name, He shall teach you all things and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.

²⁷ “Peace I leave with you; My peace I give unto you, not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.

²⁸ Ye have heard how I said unto you, ‘I go away and come again unto you.’ If ye loved Me, ye would rejoice because I said, ‘I go unto the Father,’ for My Father is greater than I.

²⁹ And now I have told you before it come to pass, that when it is come to pass, ye might believe.

³⁰ “Hereafter I will not talk much with you, for the prince of this world cometh, and hath nothing in Me.

³¹ But that the world may know that I love the Father, as the Father gave Me commandment, even so I do. Arise, let us go hence.

8 Jesus went unto the Mount of Olives.

² And early in the morning He came again into the temple, and all the people came unto Him; and He sat down and taught them.

³ And the scribes and Pharisees brought unto Him a woman taken in adultery. And when they had set her in the midst,

⁴ they said unto Him, “Master, this woman was taken in adultery, in the very act.

⁵ Now Moses in the law commanded us that such should be stoned but what sayest thou?”

⁶ This they said testing Him, that they might have cause to accuse Him. But Jesus stooped down and with His finger wrote on the ground, as though He heard them not.

⁷ So when they continued asking Him, He lifted Himself up and said unto them, “He that is without sin among you, let him first cast a stone at her.”

⁸ And again He stooped down and wrote on the ground.

⁹ And they who heard it, being convicted by their own conscience, went out one by one, beginning with the eldest even unto the last, and Jesus was left alone with the woman standing in the midst.

¹⁰ When Jesus had lifted Himself up and saw none but the woman, He said unto her, “Woman, where are those thine accusers? Hath no man condemned thee?”

¹¹ She said, “No man, Lord.” And Jesus said unto her, “Neither do I condemn thee; go, and sin no more.”

¹² Then spoke Jesus again unto them, saying, “I am the Light of the world. He that followeth Me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life.”

¹³ The Pharisees therefore said unto Him, “Thou bearest record of thyself; thy record is not true.”

¹⁴ Jesus answered and said unto them, “Though I bear record of Myself, yet My record is true, for I know whence I came and whither I go; but ye cannot tell whence I come and whither I go.

¹⁵ Ye judge according to the flesh; I judge no man.

¹⁶ And yet if I judge, My judgment is true; for I am not alone, but I and the Father that sent Me.

¹⁷ It is also written in your law that the testimony of two men is true.

¹⁸ I am One that bear witness of Myself, and the Father that sent Me beareth witness of Me.”

¹⁹ Then they said unto Him, “Where is thy father?” Jesus answered, “Ye neither know Me, nor My Father. If ye had known Me, ye should have known My Father also.”

²⁰ These words spoke Jesus in the treasury as He taught in the temple, and no man laid hands on Him, for His hour was not yet come.

²¹ Then Jesus said again unto them, “I go My way, and ye shall seek Me, and shall die in your sins. Whither I go, ye cannot come.”

²² Then said the Jews, “Will he kill himself, because he saith, ‘Whither I go ye cannot come’?”

²³ And He said unto them, “Ye are from beneath; I am from above. Ye are of this world; I am not of this world.

²⁴ I said therefore unto you that ye shall die in your sins; for if ye believe not that I am He, ye shall die in your sins.”

²⁵ Then they said unto Him, “Who art thou?” And Jesus said unto them, “Even the same that I said unto you from the beginning.

²⁶ I have many things to say and to judge of you, but He that sent Me is true; and I speak to the world those things which I have heard of Him.”

²⁷ They understood not that He spoke to them of the Father.

²⁸ Then said Jesus unto them, “When ye have lifted up the Son of Man, then shall ye know that I am He, and that I do nothing of Myself; but as My Father hath taught Me, I speak these things.

²⁹ And He that sent Me is with Me. The Father hath not left Me alone, for I do always those things that please Him.”

³⁰ As He spoke those words, many believed in Him.

³¹ Then said Jesus to those Jews who believed in Him, “If ye continue in My Word, then are ye My disciples indeed.

³² And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.”

³³ They answered Him, “We are Abraham’s seed, and were never in bondage to any man. How sayest thou, ‘Ye shall be made free’?”

³⁴ Jesus answered them, “Verily, verily I say unto you, whosoever committeth sin is the servant of sin.

³⁵ And the servant abideth not in the house for ever, but the Son abideth ever.

³⁶ If the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed.

³⁷ I know that ye are Abraham’s seed, but ye seek to kill Me, because My Word hath no place in you.

³⁸ I speak that which I have seen with My Father, and ye do that which ye have seen with your father.”

³⁹ They answered and said unto Him, “Abraham is our father.” Jesus said unto them, “If ye were Abraham’s children, ye would do the works of Abraham.

⁴⁰ But now ye seek to kill Me, a Man that hath told you the truth, which I have heard from God: this did not Abraham.

⁴¹ Ye do the deeds of your father.” Then they said to Him, “We are not born of fornication; we have one Father, even God.”

⁴² Jesus said unto them, “If God were your Father, ye would love Me, for I proceeded forth and came from God; neither came I of Myself, but He sent Me.

⁴³ Why do ye not understand My speech? Even because ye cannot hear My Word!

⁴⁴ Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own, for he is a liar and the father of it.

⁴⁵ And because I tell you the truth, ye believe Me not.

⁴⁶ Which of you convicteth Me of sin? And if I say the truth, why do ye not believe Me?

⁴⁷ He that is of God heareth God’s words; ye therefore hear them not, because ye are not of God.”

⁴⁸ Then the Jews answered and said unto Him, “Say we not well that thou art a Samaritan and hast a devil?”

⁴⁹ Jesus answered, “I have not a devil, but I honor My Father, and ye do dishonor Me.

⁵⁰ And I seek not Mine own glory; there is One that seeketh and judgeth.

⁵¹ Verily, verily I say unto you, if a man keep My saying, he shall never see death.”

⁵² Then said the Jews unto Him, “Now we know that thou hast a devil! Abraham is dead and the prophets; and thou sayest, ‘If a man keep my saying he shall never taste of death.’

⁵³ Art thou greater than our father Abraham, who is dead? And the prophets are dead. Whom makest thou thyself?”

⁵⁴ Jesus answered, “If I honor Myself, My honor is nothing. It is My Father that honoreth Me, of whom ye say that He is your God.

⁵⁵ Yet ye have not known Him, but I know Him. And if I should say, ‘I know Him not,’ I shall be a liar like unto you. But I know Him and keep His saying.

⁵⁶ Your father Abraham rejoiced to see My day; and He saw it and was glad.”

⁵⁷ Then said the Jews unto Him, “Thou art not yet fifty years old, and hast thou seen Abraham?”

⁵⁸ Jesus said unto them, “Verily, verily I say unto you, before Abraham was, I am!”

⁵⁹ Then they took up stones to cast at Him; but Jesus hid Himself, and went out of the temple, going through the midst of them, and so passed by.
