4 Итак, поскольку Христос пострадал телом, то и вы вооружитесь той же мыслью, ведь тот, кто страдал телесно, перестал грешить, 2 чтобы остаток земной жизни прожить, руководствуясь уже не человеческими желаниями, а Божьей волей. 3 Вы достаточно долго вели образ жизни, какой ведут язычники, предаваясь распутству, страстям, пьянству, обжорству, оргиям и отвратительному идолопоклонству. 4 Поэтому язычники и удивляются, что вы больше не участвуете с ними в их распутстве, и злословят вас. 5 Но они ответят за все перед Тем, Кто готов судить живых и мертвых. 6 Поэтому Радостная Весть была возвещена и мертвым[a], чтобы они, как и все люди, были телесно осуждены, но жили в духе, подобно тому, как живет Бог.
7 Скоро придет всему конец. Поэтому сохраняйте благоразумие, будьте бдительны, чтобы всегда быть в состоянии молиться. 8 Прежде всего, преданно любите друг друга, потому что любовь покрывает множество грехов[b]. 9 Будьте гостеприимны друг к другу без жалоб. 10 Служите друг другу тем даром, какой каждый получил, верно распоряжаясь различными дарами благодати Божьей. 11 Тот, кто говорит, должен делать это как произносящий Божьи слова. 12 Возлюбленные, не удивляйтесь тому, что вам приходится проходить через огненные испытания, в этом нет ничего странного. 13 Наоборот, радуйтесь тому, что вы тоже участвуете в страданиях Христа, чтобы вам радоваться и веселиться и тогда, когда откроется Его слава. 14 Если вас оскорбляют за имя Христа, то вы блаженны, это значит, что Дух славы – Дух Божий – покоится на вас. 15 Главное, чтобы никто из вас не страдал как убийца, или вор, или злодей, или как человек, вмешивающийся в чужие дела. 16 Если же кто-то страдает потому, что он христианин, то пусть он не стыдится, а прославляет Бога за то, что носит это имя. 17 Время суда настало, и суд начнется с Божьего дома. Подумайте, если он начнется с нас, то какая участь постигнет тех, кто не повинуется Божьей Радостной Вести?
18 «Если праведнику нелегко получить спасение,
так что же станет с безбожниками и грешниками?»[c]
19 Поэтому те, кто страдает по Божьей воле, пусть отдадут свою жизнь в руки Создателя, Который верен, и продолжают делать добро.

4 Итак, поскольку Масих пострадал телом, то и вы будьте готовы к тому же, ведь тот, кто страдает телом, перестаёт жить во власти греха, 2 чтобы остаток земной жизни прожить, руководствуясь уже не человеческими желаниями, а волей Аллаха. 3 Вы достаточно долго вели образ жизни, какой ведут язычники, предаваясь распутству, страстям, пьянству, обжорству, оргиям и отвратительному идолопоклонству. 4 Поэтому язычники и удивляются, что вы больше не участвуете с ними в их распутстве, и злословят вас. 5 Но они ответят за всё перед Тем, Кто готов судить живых и мёртвых. 6 Поэтому Радостная Весть была возвещена и тем, кого сейчас уже нет в живых[a], чтобы они, умерев физически, тем не менее, жили бы в духе, подобно тому, как живёт Аллах[b].

Do Not Join in Immorality
4 Therefore, because Christ suffered in flesh,[a] arm yourselves with the same mindset, because the one who has suffered in flesh is done with sin. 2 Do this so that you no longer live the rest of your time in the flesh for human desires but for God’s will. 3 Indeed, you have already spent enough time in the past doing what the Gentiles want to do: living in unbridled immorality, lusts, drunkenness, orgies, drinking parties, and disgusting idolatry.
4 For this reason, they are surprised that you do not plunge into the same overflowing river of filth with them, and they slander you. 5 They will have to give an account to the one who is ready to judge the living and the dead. 6 In fact, it was for this reason that the gospel was preached also to those who are dead, so that they might be judged the way people are judged in flesh and that they might live the way God lives in spirit.
Love for Others in the End Times
7 The end of all things is near. So have sound judgment and be self-controlled for the sake of your prayers. 8 Above all, love each other constantly, because love covers a multitude of sins. 9 Be hospitable to one another without complaining.
Gifts Meant for Service
10 Serve one another, each according to the gift he has received, as good stewards of the many forms of God’s grace. 11 If anyone speaks, let him do it as one speaking the messages of God. If anyone serves, let him do it as one serving with the strength God supplies so that God may be glorified in every way through Jesus Christ. To him belong the glory and the power forever and ever. Amen.
Sharing in the Sufferings of Christ
12 Dear friends, do not be surprised by the fiery trial that is happening among you to test you, as if something strange were happening to you. 13 Instead rejoice whenever you are sharing in the sufferings of Christ, so that you may rejoice and be glad when his glory is revealed.
14 If you are insulted in connection with the name of Christ, you are blessed, because the Spirit of glory[b] and of God rests on you.[c] 15 Make sure that none of you suffers as a murderer, a thief, a criminal, or as a meddler. 16 But if you suffer for being a Christian, do not be ashamed, but praise God in connection with this name.[d] 17 For the time has come for judgment to begin with the household of God. Now if it begins with us, what will be the end for those who disobey the gospel of God? 18 And if it is hard for the righteous to be saved, where will the ungodly sinner end up? 19 So let those who suffer according to the will of God entrust their souls to their faithful Creator while doing what is good.

Living for God
4 Therefore, since Christ suffered in his body,(A) arm yourselves also with the same attitude, because whoever suffers in the body is done with sin.(B) 2 As a result, they do not live the rest of their earthly lives for evil human desires,(C) but rather for the will of God. 3 For you have spent enough time in the past(D) doing what pagans choose to do—living in debauchery, lust, drunkenness, orgies, carousing and detestable idolatry.(E) 4 They are surprised that you do not join them in their reckless, wild living, and they heap abuse on you.(F) 5 But they will have to give account to him who is ready to judge the living and the dead.(G) 6 For this is the reason the gospel was preached even to those who are now dead,(H) so that they might be judged according to human standards in regard to the body, but live according to God in regard to the spirit.
7 The end of all things is near.(I) Therefore be alert and of sober mind(J) so that you may pray. 8 Above all, love each other deeply,(K) because love covers over a multitude of sins.(L) 9 Offer hospitality(M) to one another without grumbling.(N) 10 Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others,(O) as faithful(P) stewards of God’s grace in its various forms. 11 If anyone speaks, they should do so as one who speaks the very words of God.(Q) If anyone serves, they should do so with the strength God provides,(R) so that in all things God may be praised(S) through Jesus Christ. To him be the glory and the power for ever and ever. Amen.(T)
Suffering for Being a Christian
12 Dear friends, do not be surprised at the fiery ordeal that has come on you(U) to test you, as though something strange were happening to you. 13 But rejoice(V) inasmuch as you participate in the sufferings of Christ,(W) so that you may be overjoyed when his glory is revealed.(X) 14 If you are insulted because of the name of Christ,(Y) you are blessed,(Z) for the Spirit of glory and of God rests on you. 15 If you suffer, it should not be as a murderer or thief or any other kind of criminal, or even as a meddler. 16 However, if you suffer as a Christian, do not be ashamed, but praise God that you bear that name.(AA) 17 For it is time for judgment to begin with God’s household;(AB) and if it begins with us, what will the outcome be for those who do not obey the gospel of God?(AC) 18 And,
“If it is hard for the righteous to be saved,
what will become of the ungodly and the sinner?”[a](AD)
19 So then, those who suffer according to God’s will(AE) should commit themselves to their faithful Creator and continue to do good.
