Error and Greed

If anyone teaches otherwise and does not consent to (A)wholesome words, even the words of our Lord Jesus Christ, (B)and to the [a]doctrine which accords with godliness, he is proud, knowing nothing, but is obsessed with disputes and arguments over words, from which come envy, strife, reviling, evil suspicions, [b]useless wranglings of men of corrupt minds and destitute of the truth, who suppose that godliness is a means of gain. [c]From (C)such withdraw yourself.

Now godliness with (D)contentment is great gain. For we brought nothing into this world, [d]and it is (E)certain we can carry nothing out. And having food and clothing, with these we shall be (F)content. But those who desire to be rich fall into temptation and a snare, and into many foolish and harmful lusts which drown men in destruction and perdition. 10 For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil, for which some have strayed from the faith in their greediness, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows.

If anyone (A)advocates a different doctrine and does not [a]agree with (B)sound words, those of our Lord Jesus Christ, and with the doctrine (C)conforming to godliness, he is (D)conceited and understands nothing; but he [b]has a sick craving for (E)controversial questions and (F)disputes about words, from which come envy, strife, abusive language, evil suspicions, and constant friction between (G)people of depraved mind and deprived of the truth, who (H)suppose that [c]godliness is a means of gain. (I)But godliness actually is a means of (J)great gain when accompanied by (K)contentment. For (L)we have brought nothing into the world, so we cannot take anything out of it, either. If we (M)have food and [d]covering, with these we shall be content. (N)But those who want to get rich fall into temptation and (O)a trap, and many foolish and harmful desires which plunge people into ruin and destruction. 10 For (P)the love of money is a root of all [e]sorts of evil, and some by longing for it have (Q)wandered away from the faith and pierced themselves with many [f]griefs.
