Guard the Faith

²⁰ O Timothy! ^(A)Guard what was committed to your trust, ^(B)avoiding the profane and ^[a]idle babblings and contradictions of what is falsely called knowledge—

⁸ Beware lest anyone ^[a]cheat you through philosophy and empty deceit, according to ^(A)the tradition of men, according to the ^(B)basic principles of the world, and not according to Christ.

¹⁶ But shun profane and ^[a]idle babblings, for they will ^[b]increase to more ungodliness.

¹² For this reason I also suffer these things; nevertheless I am not ashamed, ^(A)for I know whom I have believed and am persuaded that He is able to keep what I have committed to Him until that Day.

Be Loyal to the Faith

^13 (B)Hold fast ^(C)the pattern of ^(D)sound words which you have heard from me, in faith and love which are in Christ Jesus. ¹⁴ That good thing which was committed to you, keep by the Holy Spirit who dwells in us.

¹⁸ Let no one cheat you of your reward, taking delight in false humility and worship of angels, intruding into those things which he has ^[a]not seen, vainly puffed up by his fleshly mind,

¹⁴ But you must ^(A)continue in the things which you have learned and been assured of, knowing from whom you have learned them, ¹⁵ and that from childhood you have known ^(B)the Holy Scriptures, which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus.

^16 (C)All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, ^(D)and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for ^[a]instruction in righteousness,

¹⁴ that you keep this commandment without spot, blameless until our Lord Jesus Christ’s appearing,

¹⁵ Therefore, brethren, ^(A)stand fast and hold ^(B)the traditions which you were taught, whether by word or our ^[a]epistle.

² Much in every way! Chiefly because ^(A)to them were committed the ^[a]oracles of God.
