4 1 But the Spirit explicitly says that in later times some will depart[a] from the faith, paying-attention-to deceitful spirits and teachings of demons 2 by means of the hypocrisy of liars having been seared as to their own conscience— 3 forbidding to marry, commanding to abstain from foods which God created for a receiving with thanksgiving by the ones who are believers and know[b] the truth. 4 Because every creature of God is good. And nothing being received with thanksgiving is to be rejected, 5 for it is sanctified[c] by the word of God and prayer. 6 While pointing-out these things to the brothers, you will be a good servant of Christ Jesus, while being nourished in the words of the faith and the good teaching which you have closely-followed. 7 But be declining[d] the profane[e] and old-womanish myths.
But You Be Training Yourself For Godliness In Your Character And Teaching
But be training[f] yourself for godliness. 8 For bodily training is profitable for a little, but godliness is profitable for all things— having promise for the present life and the one coming. 9 The saying is trustworthy and worthy of full acceptance. 10 For we are laboring and struggling[g] for this[h], because we have put our hope upon the living God, Who is the Savior of all people— especially of believers. 11 Be commanding and teaching these things. 12 Let no one be-looking-down-on[i] your youth, but be a pattern for the believers in speech, in conduct, in love, in faith, in purity. 13 Until I come[j], be paying-attention-to the reading[k], the exhortation, the teaching. 14 Do not be careless[l] of the gift in you, which was given to you through a prophecy with the laying-on of the hands of the council-of-elders. 15 Be taking-care-with these things, be in these things, in order that your progress may be evident to everyone. 16 Be fixing-your-attention-on yourself and your teaching. Be continuing in them. For while doing this, you will save both yourself and the ones hearing you.

4 Now the Spirit expressly says that in later[a] times some will renounce the faith by paying attention to deceitful spirits and teachings of demons, 2 through the hypocrisy of liars whose consciences are seared with a hot iron. 3 They forbid marriage and demand abstinence from foods, which God created to be received with thanksgiving by those who believe and know the truth. 4 For everything created by God is good, and nothing is to be rejected, provided it is received with thanksgiving; 5 for it is sanctified by God’s word and by prayer.

6 If you put these instructions before the brothers and sisters,[b] you will be a good servant[c] of Christ Jesus, nourished on the words of the faith and of the sound teaching that you have followed. 7 Have nothing to do with profane myths and old wives’ tales. Train yourself in godliness, 8 for, while physical training is of some value, godliness is valuable in every way, holding promise for both the present life and the life to come. 9 The saying is sure and worthy of full acceptance. 10 For to this end we toil and struggle,[d] because we have our hope set on the living God, who is the Saviour of all people, especially of those who believe.
11 These are the things you must insist on and teach. 12 Let no one despise your youth, but set the believers an example in speech and conduct, in love, in faith, in purity. 13 Until I arrive, give attention to the public reading of scripture,[e] to exhorting, to teaching. 14 Do not neglect the gift that is in you, which was given to you through prophecy with the laying on of hands by the council of elders.[f] 15 Put these things into practice, devote yourself to them, so that all may see your progress. 16 Pay close attention to yourself and to your teaching; continue in these things, for in doing this you will save both yourself and your hearers.

2 par l'hypocrisie de faux docteurs portant la marque de la flétrissure dans leur propre conscience,
3 prescrivant de ne pas se marier, et de s'abstenir d'aliments que Dieu a créés pour qu'ils soient pris avec actions de grâces par ceux qui sont fidèles et qui ont connu la vérité.
4 Car tout ce que Dieu a créé est bon, et rien ne doit être rejeté, pourvu qu'on le prenne avec actions de grâces,
5 parce que tout est sanctifié par la parole de Dieu et par la prière.
6 En exposant ces choses au frères, tu seras un bon ministre de Jésus Christ, nourri des paroles de la foi et de la bonne doctrine que tu as exactement suivie.
7 Repousse les contes profanes et absurdes.
8 Exerce-toi à la piété; car l'exercice corporel est utile à peu de chose, tandis que la piété est utile à tout, ayant la promesse de la vie présente et de celle qui est à venir.
9 C'est là une parole certaine et entièrement digne d'être reçue.
10 Nous travaillons, en effet, et nous combattons, parce que nous mettons notre espérance dans le Dieu vivant, qui est le Sauveur de tous les hommes, principalement des croyants.
11 Déclare ces choses, et enseigne-les.
12 Que personne ne méprise ta jeunesse; mais sois un modèle pour les fidèles, en parole, en conduite, en charité, en foi, en pureté.

6 If you point these things out to the brothers and sisters,[a] you will be a good minister of Christ Jesus, nourished on the truths of the faith(L) and of the good teaching that you have followed.(M) 7 Have nothing to do with godless myths and old wives’ tales;(N) rather, train yourself to be godly.(O) 8 For physical training is of some value, but godliness has value for all things,(P) holding promise for both the present life(Q) and the life to come.(R) 9 This is a trustworthy saying(S) that deserves full acceptance. 10 That is why we labor and strive, because we have put our hope in the living God,(T) who is the Savior of all people,(U) and especially of those who believe.
11 Command and teach these things.(V) 12 Don’t let anyone look down on you(W) because you are young, but set an example(X) for the believers in speech, in conduct, in love, in faith(Y) and in purity. 13 Until I come,(Z) devote yourself to the public reading of Scripture,(AA) to preaching and to teaching. 14 Do not neglect your gift, which was given you through prophecy(AB) when the body of elders(AC) laid their hands on you.(AD)
15 Be diligent in these matters; give yourself wholly to them, so that everyone may see your progress. 16 Watch your life and doctrine closely. Persevere in them, because if you do, you will save(AE) both yourself and your hearers.
