1 Timothy 3:8-10

⁸Likewise must the deacons be grave, not doubletongued, not given to much wine, not greedy of filthy lucre;

⁹Holding the mystery of the faith in a pure conscience.

¹⁰And let these also first be proved; then let them use the office of a deacon, being found blameless.

Qualifications for Deacons

⁸^(A)Deacons likewise must be dignified, not double-tongued,^[a] ^(B)not addicted to much wine, ^(C)not greedy for dishonest gain. ⁹They must ^(D)hold the mystery of the faith with ^(E)a clear conscience. ¹⁰And ^(F)let them also be tested first; then let them serve as deacons if they prove themselves blameless.
