2 Therefore, first of all I urge that requests, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgiving be made on behalf of all people— ² for kings and all who are in authority^[a]—so we may live a peaceful and quiet life in all godliness and respectfulness. ³ This is good and pleasing in the sight of God our Savior.
