Pray for All Men

2 Therefore I ^[a]exhort first of all that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks be made for all men,

^2 (A)for kings and ^(B)all who are in ^[a]authority, that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and ^[b]reverence.

²⁹ Now therefore, let it please You to bless the house of Your servant, that it may continue before You forever; for You, O Lord God, have spoken it, and with Your blessing let the house of Your servant be blessed ^(A)forever.”

²¹ Then his servants said to him, “What is this that you have done? You fasted and wept for the child while he was alive, but when the child died, you arose and ate food.”

²² And he said, “While the child was alive, I fasted and wept; ^(A)for I said, ‘Who can tell whether ^[a]the Lord will be gracious to me, that the child may live?’ ²³ But now he is dead; why should I fast? Can I bring him back again? I shall go ^(B)to him, but ^(C)he shall not return to me.”

¹⁶ If anyone sees his brother sinning a sin which does not lead to death, he will ask, and ^(A)He will give him life for those who commit sin not leading to death. ^(B)There is sin leading to death. ^(C)I do not say that he should pray about that.
