³ Just as I urged you ^[a]upon my departure for ^(A)Macedonia, to remain on at ^(B)Ephesus so that you would instruct certain people not to ^(C)teach strange doctrines, ⁴ nor to ^[b]pay attention to ^(D)myths and endless ^(E)genealogies, which give rise to useless ^(F)speculation rather than ^(G)advance ^[c]the plan of God, which is by faith, so I urge you now.

³ For ^(A)the time will come when they will not tolerate ^(B)sound doctrine; but wanting to have their ears tickled, they will accumulate for themselves teachers in accordance with their own desires, ⁴ and they ^(C)will turn their ears away from the truth and ^(D)will turn aside to myths.

¹³ This testimony is true. For this reason ^(A)reprimand them ^(B)severely so that they may be ^(C)sound in the faith, ¹⁴ not paying attention to Jewish ^(D)myths and ^(E)commandments of men who ^(F)turn away from the truth.
