Warning Against False Teachers

^3 (A)As I urged you when I was going to Macedonia, remain at Ephesus so that you may charge certain persons not ^(B)to teach any different doctrine,

³ If anyone ^(A)teaches a different doctrine and does not agree with ^(B)the sound^[a] words of our Lord Jesus Christ and the teaching ^(C)that accords with godliness,

No Other Gospel

⁶ I am astonished that you are ^(A)so quickly deserting ^(B)him who called you in the grace of Christ and are turning to ^(C)a different gospel— ^7 (D)not that there is another one, but ^(E)there are some who trouble you and want to distort the gospel of Christ.

⁹ Everyone who goes on ahead and does not abide in the teaching of Christ, ^(A)does not have God. Whoever abides in the teaching ^(B)has both the Father and the Son. ¹⁰ If anyone comes to you and does not bring this teaching, ^(C)do not receive him into your house or give him any greeting,

⁷ For ^(A)many deceivers ^(B)have gone out into the world, ^(C)those who do not confess the coming of Jesus Christ in the flesh. Such a one is the deceiver and the antichrist.

⁹ He must ^(A)hold firm to the trustworthy word as taught, so that he may be able to give instruction in ^(B)sound^[a] doctrine and also to rebuke those who contradict it.

¹⁰ For there are many who are insubordinate, ^(C)empty talkers and deceivers, especially those of ^(D)the circumcision party.^{[b] 11} They must be silenced, since ^(E)they are upsetting whole families by teaching ^(F)for shameful gain what they ought not to teach.

¹¹ Command and teach ^(A)these things.

A Good Servant of Christ Jesus

^6 (A)If you put these things before the brothers,^[a] you will be a good servant of Christ Jesus, being trained in the words of the faith and of the good doctrine that you have ^(B)followed.

Alive in Christ

^6 (A)Therefore, as you received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in him, ^7 (B)rooted and ^(C)built up in him and ^(D)established in the faith, just ^(E)as you were taught, abounding ^(F)in thanksgiving.

⁸ See to it that no one takes you captive by ^(G)philosophy and ^(H)empty deceit, according to ^(I)human tradition, according to the ^(J)elemental spirits^[a] of the world, and not according to Christ. ⁹ For ^(K)in him the whole fullness of deity dwells ^(L)bodily, ¹⁰ and ^(M)you have been filled in him, who is ^(N)the head of all rule and authority. ¹¹ In him also ^(O)you were circumcised with a circumcision made without hands, by ^(P)putting off the body of the flesh, by the circumcision of Christ,
