1 Timothy 1:16-2:6

¹⁶But I received mercy for this reason, that in me, as the foremost, Jesus Christ might display his perfect patience as an example to those who were to believe in him for eternal life. ¹⁷To ^(A)the King of the ages, ^(B)immortal, ^(C)invisible, ^(D)the only God, ^(E)be honor and glory forever and ever.^[a] Amen.

¹⁸This charge ^(F)I entrust to you, Timothy, my child, in accordance with ^(G)the prophecies previously made about you, that by them you may ^(H)wage the good warfare, ¹⁹^(I)holding faith and a good conscience. By rejecting this, some have ^(J)made shipwreck of their faith, ²⁰among whom are ^(K)Hymenaeus and ^(L)Alexander, whom I ^(M)have handed over to Satan that they may learn not to ^(N)blaspheme.

Pray for All People

2 First of all, then, I urge that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgivings be made for all people, ²^(O)for kings and all who are in high positions, that we may lead a peaceful and quiet life, godly and ^(P)dignified in every way. ³This is good, and ^(Q)it is pleasing in the sight of ^(R)God our Savior, ⁴who desires ^(S)all people to be saved and ^(T)to come to ^(U)the knowledge of the truth. ⁵For ^(V)there is one God, and there is one mediator between God and men, the man^[b] Christ Jesus, ⁶^(W)who gave himself as a ransom for all, which is ^(X)the testimony given ^(Y)at the proper time.
