1 Timothy 1:14-16

Good News Translation

¹⁴And our Lord poured out his abundant grace on me and gave me the faith and love which are ours in union with Christ Jesus. ¹⁵This is a true saying, to be completely accepted and believed: Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners. I am the worst of them, ¹⁶but God was merciful to me in order that Christ Jesus might show his full patience in dealing with me, the worst of sinners, as an example for all those who would later believe in him and receive eternal life.

¹⁴The grace of our Lord was poured out on me abundantly,^(A) along with the faith and love that are in Christ Jesus.^(B)

¹⁵Here is a trustworthy saying^(C) that deserves full acceptance: Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners^(D)—of whom I am the worst. ¹⁶But for that very reason I was shown mercy^(E) so that in me, the worst of sinners, Christ Jesus might display his immense patience^(F) as an example for those who would believe^(G) in him and receive eternal life.^(H)

¹⁵This is a faithful saying, and worthy of all acceptation, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners; of whom I am chief.

¹⁶Howbeit for this cause I obtained mercy, that in me first Jesus Christ might shew forth all longsuffering, for a pattern to them which should hereafter believe on him to life everlasting.
