6 Todos los que aún son esclavos deben reconocer que sus amos merecen todo respeto; así evitarán que se hable mal del nombre de Dios y de nuestra enseñanza. 2 Los que tienen amos creyentes no deben faltarles al respeto por ser hermanos. Al contrario, deben servirles todavía mejor, porque los que se benefician de sus servicios son creyentes y hermanos queridos. Esto es lo que debes enseñar y recomendar.
El amor al dinero
3 Si alguien enseña falsas doctrinas, apartándose de la sana enseñanza de nuestro Señor Jesucristo y de la doctrina que se ciñe a la verdadera religión,[a] 4 es un obstinado que nada entiende. Ese tal padece del afán enfermizo de provocar discusiones inútiles que generan envidias, discordias, insultos, sospechas malvadas 5 y altercados entre personas de mente depravada, carentes de la verdad. Este es de los que piensan que la religión es un medio de obtener ganancias. 6 Es cierto que con la verdadera religión se obtienen grandes ganancias, pero solo si uno está satisfecho con lo que tiene. 7 Porque nada trajimos a este mundo y nada podemos llevarnos. 8 Así que, si tenemos comida y ropa, contentémonos con eso. 9 Los que quieren enriquecerse caen en la tentación y se vuelven esclavos de sus muchos deseos. Estos afanes insensatos y dañinos hunden a la gente en la ruina y en la destrucción. 10 Porque el amor al dinero es la raíz de toda clase de males. Por codiciarlo, algunos se han desviado de la fe y se han causado muchísimos sinsabores.
Encargo de Pablo a Timoteo
11 Tú, en cambio, hombre de Dios, huye de todo eso y esmérate en seguir la justicia, la devoción, la fe, el amor, la constancia y la humildad. 12 Pelea la buena batalla de la fe; haz tuya la vida eterna, a la que fuiste llamado y por la cual hiciste aquella admirable declaración de fe delante de muchos testigos. 13 Teniendo a Dios por testigo, el cual da vida a todas las cosas, y a Cristo Jesús, que dio su admirable testimonio delante de Poncio Pilato, te encargo 14 que guardes este mandato sin mancha ni reproche hasta la venida de nuestro Señor Jesucristo, 15 la cual Dios a su debido tiempo hará que se cumpla.
Al único y bendito Soberano,
Rey de reyes y Señor de señores,
16 al único inmortal,
que vive en luz inaccesible,
a quien nadie ha visto ni puede ver,
a él sea el honor y el poder eternamente. Amén.
17 A los ricos de este mundo, mándales que no sean arrogantes ni pongan su esperanza en las riquezas, que son tan inseguras, sino en Dios. Él nos provee de todo en abundancia para que lo disfrutemos. 18 Mándales que hagan el bien, que sean ricos en buenas obras, generosos y dispuestos a compartir lo que tienen. 19 De este modo, atesorarán para sí un seguro fundamento para el futuro y obtendrán la vida verdadera.
20 Timoteo, ¡cuida bien lo que se te ha confiado! Evita las discusiones profanas e inútiles y los argumentos de la falsa ciencia. 21 Algunos, por abrazarla, se han desviado de la fe.

6 Todos los que están bajo el yugo de esclavitud, tengan a sus amos por dignos de todo honor, para que no sea blasfemado el nombre de Dios y la doctrina. 2 Y los que tienen amos creyentes, no los tengan en menos por ser hermanos, sino sírvanles mejor, por cuanto son creyentes y amados los que se benefician de su buen servicio. Esto enseña y exhorta.
Piedad y contentamiento
3 Si alguno enseña otra cosa, y no se conforma a las sanas palabras de nuestro Señor Jesucristo, y a la doctrina que es conforme a la piedad, 4 está envanecido, nada sabe, y delira acerca de cuestiones y contiendas de palabras, de las cuales nacen envidias, pleitos, blasfemias, malas sospechas, 5 disputas necias de hombres corruptos de entendimiento y privados de la verdad, que toman la piedad como fuente de ganancia; apártate de los tales. 6 Pero gran ganancia es la piedad acompañada de contentamiento; 7 porque nada hemos traído a este mundo, y sin duda nada podremos sacar. 8 Así que, teniendo sustento y abrigo, estemos contentos con esto. 9 Porque los que quieren enriquecerse caen en tentación y lazo, y en muchas codicias necias y dañosas, que hunden a los hombres en destrucción y perdición; 10 porque raíz de todos los males es el amor al dinero, el cual codiciando algunos, se extraviaron de la fe, y fueron traspasados de muchos dolores.
La buena batalla de la fe
11 Mas tú, oh hombre de Dios, huye de estas cosas, y sigue la justicia, la piedad, la fe, el amor, la paciencia, la mansedumbre. 12 Pelea la buena batalla de la fe, echa mano de la vida eterna, a la cual asimismo fuiste llamado, habiendo hecho la buena profesión delante de muchos testigos. 13 Te mando delante de Dios, que da vida a todas las cosas, y de Jesucristo, que dio testimonio de la buena profesión delante de Poncio Pilato,(A) 14 que guardes el mandamiento sin mácula ni reprensión, hasta la aparición de nuestro Señor Jesucristo, 15 la cual a su tiempo mostrará el bienaventurado y solo Soberano, Rey de reyes, y Señor de señores, 16 el único que tiene inmortalidad, que habita en luz inaccesible; a quien ninguno de los hombres ha visto ni puede ver, al cual sea la honra y el imperio sempiterno. Amén.
17 A los ricos de este siglo manda que no sean altivos, ni pongan la esperanza en las riquezas, las cuales son inciertas, sino en el Dios vivo, que nos da todas las cosas en abundancia para que las disfrutemos. 18 Que hagan bien, que sean ricos en buenas obras, dadivosos, generosos; 19 atesorando para sí buen fundamento para lo por venir, que echen mano de la vida eterna.
Encargo final de Pablo a Timoteo
20 Oh Timoteo, guarda lo que se te ha encomendado, evitando las profanas pláticas sobre cosas vanas, y los argumentos de la falsamente llamada ciencia, 21 la cual profesando algunos, se desviaron de la fe. La gracia sea contigo. Amén.

6 Të gjithë skllevërit që janë nën zgjedhë le t’i çmojnë zotërinjtë e tyre të denjë për çdo nderim, që të mos shuhen emri i Perëndisë dhe doktrina.
2 Edhe ata që i kanë zotërinjtë besimtarë, të mos i përbuzin sepse janë vëllezër, por t’u shërbejnë edhe më mirë, sepse ata që kanë dobi nga shërbimi i tyre janë besimtarë dhe të dashur. Mëso këto gjëra dhe i këshillo.
3 Në qoftë se dikush mëson një doktrinë tjetër dhe nuk ndjek fjalët e shëndosha të Zotit tonë Jezu Krisht dhe doktrinën sipas perëndishmërisë,
4 ai mbahet më të madh dhe nuk di asgjë, por vuan nga sëmundja e grindjes dhe e të zënit me fjalë, prej nga lindin smira, grindja, të sharat, dyshimet e këqija,
5 debatet e kota të njerëzve me mendje të prishur dhe të shterur nga e vërteta, sepse mendojnë se perëndishmëria është burim fitimi; largohu prej këtyre.
6 Perëndishmëria është një mjet që sjell dobi të madhe, kur njeriu kënaqet me aq sa ka.
7 Sepse ne nuk kemi asgjë me vete në këtë botë, dhe është e qartë se prej saj nuk mund të marrim gjë me vete;
8 por, kur kemi çfarë të hamë dhe të veshim, të jemi të kënaqur me kaq.
9 Por ata që dëshirojnë të pasurohen, bien në tundim, në lak dhe në shumë pasione të paarsyeshme dhe të dëmshme, që i plandosin njerëzit në rrënim dhe shkatërrim.
10 Sepse lakmia për para është rrënja e gjithë të këqijave dhe, duke e lakmuar atë fort, disa u larguan nga besimi dhe e depërtuan veten e tyre në shumë dhimbje.
11 Por ti, o njeriu i Perëndisë, hiq dorë nga këto dhe ndiq drejtësinë, perëndishmërinë, besimin, dashurinë, zemërgjerësinë dhe zemërbutësinë.
12 Lufto luftën e drejtë të besimit, rrok jetën e përjetshme, në të cilën u thirre dhe për të cilën ke bërë rrëfimin e mirë të besimit përpara shumë dëshmitarëve.
13 Po të përgjërohem përpara Perëndisë që u jep jetë të gjitha gjërave dhe të Krishtit Jezus, i cili, duke dëshmuar përpara Ponc Pilatit, dhe një dëshmi të mirë besimi,
14 ta ruash këtë urdhërim pa njolla e te meta, derisa të shfaqet Zoti ynë Jezu Krisht,
15 që, në kohën e caktuar, do ta tregojë i lumi e i vetmi sundimtar, Mbreti i mbretërve dhe Zot i zotërve,
16 ai që i vetmi e ka pavdekësinë dhe rri në dritë të paafrueshme, të cilën asnjë njeri nuk e ka parë kurrë dhe as mund ta shohë; atij i qoftë nderi dhe pushteti i përjetshëm. Amen.
17 Porositi të pasurit e kësaj bote të mos jenë krenarë, dhe të mos i mbajnë shpresat në pasurinë që është e pasigurt, por në Perëndinë e gjallë, i cili na jep gjithçka bujarisht për ta gëzuar,
18 të bëjnë të mira, të bëhen të pasur në vepra të mira, të jenë bujarë dhe të gatshëm për të dhënë,
19 duke mbledhur si thesar një themel të mirë për të ardhmen, për të arritur jetën e përjetshme.
20 O Timote, ruaj atë që të është besuar, duke u shmangur nga fjalët e kota dhe profane dhe nga kundërshtimet e asaj që quhet në mënyrë të rreme shkencë,
21 të cilën e përqafuan disa dhe dolën nga besimi. Hiri qoftë me ty! Amen!

6 All who are under the yoke of slavery should consider their masters worthy of full respect,(A) so that God’s name and our teaching may not be slandered.(B) 2 Those who have believing masters should not show them disrespect just because they are fellow believers.(C) Instead, they should serve them even better because their masters are dear to them as fellow believers and are devoted to the welfare[a] of their slaves.
False Teachers and the Love of Money
These are the things you are to teach and insist on.(D) 3 If anyone teaches otherwise(E) and does not agree to the sound instruction(F) of our Lord Jesus Christ and to godly teaching, 4 they are conceited(G) and understand nothing. They have an unhealthy interest in controversies and quarrels about words(H) that result in envy, strife, malicious talk, evil suspicions 5 and constant friction between people of corrupt mind, who have been robbed of the truth(I) and who think that godliness is a means to financial gain.
6 But godliness with contentment(J) is great gain.(K) 7 For we brought nothing into the world, and we can take nothing out of it.(L) 8 But if we have food and clothing, we will be content with that.(M) 9 Those who want to get rich(N) fall into temptation and a trap(O) and into many foolish and harmful desires that plunge people into ruin and destruction. 10 For the love of money(P) is a root of all kinds of evil. Some people, eager for money, have wandered from the faith(Q) and pierced themselves with many griefs.(R)
Final Charge to Timothy
11 But you, man of God,(S) flee from all this, and pursue righteousness, godliness,(T) faith, love,(U) endurance and gentleness. 12 Fight the good fight(V) of the faith. Take hold of(W) the eternal life(X) to which you were called when you made your good confession(Y) in the presence of many witnesses. 13 In the sight of God, who gives life to everything, and of Christ Jesus, who while testifying before Pontius Pilate(Z) made the good confession,(AA) I charge you(AB) 14 to keep this command without spot or blame(AC) until the appearing of our Lord Jesus Christ,(AD) 15 which God will bring about in his own time(AE)—God, the blessed(AF) and only Ruler,(AG) the King of kings and Lord of lords,(AH) 16 who alone is immortal(AI) and who lives in unapproachable light,(AJ) whom no one has seen or can see.(AK) To him be honor and might forever. Amen.(AL)
17 Command those who are rich(AM) in this present world not to be arrogant nor to put their hope in wealth,(AN) which is so uncertain, but to put their hope in God,(AO) who richly provides us with everything for our enjoyment.(AP) 18 Command them to do good, to be rich in good deeds,(AQ) and to be generous and willing to share.(AR) 19 In this way they will lay up treasure for themselves(AS) as a firm foundation for the coming age, so that they may take hold of(AT) the life that is truly life.
20 Timothy, guard what has been entrusted(AU) to your care. Turn away from godless chatter(AV) and the opposing ideas of what is falsely called knowledge, 21 which some have professed and in so doing have departed from the faith.(AW)
