5 No reprendas al anciano, sino exhórtale como a padre; a los más jóvenes, como a hermanos; 2 a las ancianas, como a madres; a las jovencitas, como a hermanas, con toda pureza.
3 Honra a las viudas que en verdad lo son. 4 Pero si alguna viuda tiene hijos, o nietos, aprendan estos primero a ser piadosos para con su propia familia, y a recompensar a sus padres; porque esto es lo bueno y agradable delante de Dios. 5 Mas la que en verdad es viuda y ha quedado sola, espera en Dios, y es diligente en súplicas y oraciones noche y día. 6 Pero la que se entrega a los placeres, viviendo está muerta. 7 Manda también estas cosas, para que sean irreprensibles; 8 porque si alguno no provee para los suyos, y mayormente para los de su casa, ha negado la fe, y es peor que un incrédulo.
9 Sea puesta en la lista solo la viuda no menor de sesenta años, que haya sido esposa de un solo marido, 10 que tenga testimonio de buenas obras; si ha criado hijos; si ha practicado la hospitalidad; si ha lavado los pies de los santos; si ha socorrido a los afligidos; si ha practicado toda buena obra. 11 Pero viudas más jóvenes no admitas; porque cuando, impulsadas por sus deseos, se rebelan contra Cristo, quieren casarse, 12 incurriendo así en condenación, por haber quebrantado su primera fe. 13 Y también aprenden a ser ociosas, andando de casa en casa; y no solamente ociosas, sino también chismosas y entremetidas, hablando lo que no debieran. 14 Quiero, pues, que las viudas jóvenes se casen, críen hijos, gobiernen su casa; que no den al adversario ninguna ocasión de maledicencia. 15 Porque ya algunas se han apartado en pos de Satanás. 16 Si algún creyente o alguna creyente tiene viudas, que las mantenga, y no sea gravada la iglesia, a fin de que haya lo suficiente para las que en verdad son viudas.
17 Los ancianos que gobiernan bien, sean tenidos por dignos de doble honor, mayormente los que trabajan en predicar y enseñar. 18 Pues la Escritura dice: No pondrás bozal al buey que trilla;(A) y: Digno es el obrero de su salario.(B) 19 Contra un anciano no admitas acusación sino con dos o tres testigos.(C) 20 A los que persisten en pecar, repréndelos delante de todos, para que los demás también teman. 21 Te encarezco delante de Dios y del Señor Jesucristo, y de sus ángeles escogidos, que guardes estas cosas sin prejuicios, no haciendo nada con parcialidad. 22 No impongas con ligereza las manos a ninguno, ni participes en pecados ajenos. Consérvate puro.
23 Ya no bebas agua, sino usa de un poco de vino por causa de tu estómago y de tus frecuentes enfermedades.
24 Los pecados de algunos hombres se hacen patentes antes que ellos vengan a juicio, mas a otros se les descubren después. 25 Asimismo se hacen manifiestas las buenas obras; y las que son de otra manera, no pueden permanecer ocultas.

5 Mos e qorto ashpër një plak, por këshilloje si atë, dhe më të rinjtë si vëllezër,
2 plakat si nëna, të rejat si motra, me plot dlirësi.
3 Ndero vejushat që janë me të vërtetë të veja.
4 Por në qoftë se një e ve ka djem a nipa, këta le të mësojnë më parë të tregojnë perëndishmëri ndaj atyre të familjes së vet dhe t’ua shpërblejnë prindërve të tyre, sepse kjo është e mirë dhe e pëlqyer përpara Perëndisë.
5 Dhe ajo që është me të vërtetë e ve, dhe ka mbetur e vetme, e ka shpresën në Perëndinë dhe qëndron në lutje dhe në të falura natë e ditë.
6 Ndërsa ajo që jeton e shthurur, ndonëse rron, është e vdekur.
7 Porosit edhe këto gjëra, që të jenë të patëmeta.
8 Por në qoftë se dikush nuk kujdeset për të vetët, dhe më tepër për ata të shtëpisë, ai e ka mohuar besimin dhe është më i keq se një jobesimtar.
9 Një e ve të regjistrohet në listën e vejushave, po të jetë jo më e re se gjashtëdhjetë vjeçe, të ketë qenë bashkëshorte e një burri të vetëm,
10 dhe të ketë dëshminë për vepra të mira: që i ka rritur fëmijët e saj, ka pritur të huajt, ua ka larë këmbët shenjtorëve, ka ndihmuar nevojtarët, i është kushtuar vazhdimisht çdo vepre të mirë.
11 Po mos i prano vejushat më të reja, sepse, duke u dhënë pas dëshirave të tyre, ngrihen kundër Krishtit, duan të martohen,
12 duke tërhequr mbi vete një dënim, sepse kanë shkelur besimin e parë.
13 Madje ato mësojnë të jenë përtace duke shkuar shtëpi më shtëpi, edhe jo vetëm përtace, por edhe llafazane dhe kureshtare duke folur për gjëra të kota.
14 Dua, pra, që vejushat e reja të martohen, të kenë fëmijë, të bëhen zonja shtëpie dhe të mos i japin kundërshtarit asnjë shkak për të përfolur;
15 sepse disa tashmë devijuan për të ndjekur Satanin.
16 Në qoftë se ndonjë besimtar ose besimtare ka vejusha, le t’i ndihmojë e të mos bëhen barrë kishës, e cila mund të ndihmojë ato që janë me të vërtetë të veja.
17 Pleqtë që e drejtojnë mirë parësinë në kishë, le të nderohen dyfish, sidomos ata që mundohen me fjalë e me mësim.
18 Sepse Shkrimi thotë: "Mos ia lidh gojën kaut që shin në lëmë," dhe: “Punëtori e ka hak mëditjen e tij.”
19 Mos prano asnjë padi kundër një plaku, veçse kur ka dy ose tre dëshmitarë.
20 Ata që mëkatojnë qortoji përpara të gjithëve, që edhe të tjerët të kenë frikë.
21 Unë të vë në be përpara Perëndisë, dhe Zotit Jezu Krisht dhe engjëjve të zgjedhur, që t’i zbatosh këto gjëra pa paragjykime, dhe mos bëj asgjë me anësi.
22 Mos i vër duart askujt me ngut dhe mos u bëj pjestar në mëkatet e të tjerëve; ruaje veten të pastër.
23 Mos pi më ujë, por përdor pak verë për stomakun tënd dhe për sëmundjet e tua të shpeshta.
24 Disa njerëzve mëkatet u duken sheshit edhe përpara gjyqit, ndërsa të tjerëve u duken më pas.
25 Gjithashtu edhe veprat e mira duken; por edhe ato që janë ndryshe nuk mund të mbeten të fshehura.

Widows, Elders and Slaves
5 Do not rebuke an older man(A) harshly,(B) but exhort him as if he were your father. Treat younger men(C) as brothers, 2 older women as mothers, and younger women as sisters, with absolute purity.
3 Give proper recognition to those widows who are really in need.(D) 4 But if a widow has children or grandchildren, these should learn first of all to put their religion into practice by caring for their own family and so repaying their parents and grandparents,(E) for this is pleasing to God.(F) 5 The widow who is really in need(G) and left all alone puts her hope in God(H) and continues night and day to pray(I) and to ask God for help. 6 But the widow who lives for pleasure is dead even while she lives.(J) 7 Give the people these instructions,(K) so that no one may be open to blame. 8 Anyone who does not provide for their relatives, and especially for their own household, has denied(L) the faith and is worse than an unbeliever.
9 No widow may be put on the list of widows unless she is over sixty, has been faithful to her husband, 10 and is well known for her good deeds,(M) such as bringing up children, showing hospitality,(N) washing the feet(O) of the Lord’s people, helping those in trouble(P) and devoting herself to all kinds of good deeds.
11 As for younger widows, do not put them on such a list. For when their sensual desires overcome their dedication to Christ, they want to marry. 12 Thus they bring judgment on themselves, because they have broken their first pledge. 13 Besides, they get into the habit of being idle and going about from house to house. And not only do they become idlers, but also busybodies(Q) who talk nonsense,(R) saying things they ought not to. 14 So I counsel younger widows to marry,(S) to have children, to manage their homes and to give the enemy no opportunity for slander.(T) 15 Some have in fact already turned away to follow Satan.(U)
16 If any woman who is a believer has widows in her care, she should continue to help them and not let the church be burdened with them, so that the church can help those widows who are really in need.(V)
17 The elders(W) who direct the affairs of the church well are worthy of double honor,(X) especially those whose work is preaching and teaching. 18 For Scripture says, “Do not muzzle an ox while it is treading out the grain,”[a](Y) and “The worker deserves his wages.”[b](Z) 19 Do not entertain an accusation against an elder(AA) unless it is brought by two or three witnesses.(AB) 20 But those elders who are sinning you are to reprove(AC) before everyone, so that the others may take warning.(AD) 21 I charge you, in the sight of God and Christ Jesus(AE) and the elect angels, to keep these instructions without partiality, and to do nothing out of favoritism.
22 Do not be hasty in the laying on of hands,(AF) and do not share in the sins of others.(AG) Keep yourself pure.(AH)
23 Stop drinking only water, and use a little wine(AI) because of your stomach and your frequent illnesses.
24 The sins of some are obvious, reaching the place of judgment ahead of them; the sins of others trail behind them. 25 In the same way, good deeds are obvious, and even those that are not obvious cannot remain hidden forever.
