2 Ti esorto dunque prima di ogni cosa, che si facciano suppliche, preghiere intercessioni e ringraziamenti per tutti gli uomini,
2 per i re e per tutti quelli che sono in autorità, affinché possiamo condurre una vita tranquilla e quieta in ogni pietà e decoro.
3 Questo infatti è buono ed accettevole davanti a Dio, nostro Salvatore,
4 il quale vuole che tutti gli uomini siano salvati, e che vengano alla conoscenza della verità.
5 Vi è infatti un solo Dio, ed anche un solo mediatore tra Dio e gli uomini: Cristo Gesú uomo,
6 il quale ha dato se stesso come prezzo di riscatto per tutti, secondo la testimonianza resa nei tempi stabiliti,
7 di cui io sono stato costituito banditore e apostolo (dico la verità in Cristo e non mento), dottore dei gentili nella fede e nella verità.
8 Voglio dunque che gli uomini preghino in ogni luogo, alzando le mani pure, senza ira e dispute.
9 Similmente le donne si vestano in modo decoroso, con verecondia e modestia e non di trecce o d'oro, o di perle o di abiti costosi
10 ma di buone opere, come conviene a donne che fanno professione di pietà.
11 La donna impari in silenzio, con ogni sottomissione.
12 Non permetto alla donna d'insegnare, né di usare autorità sull'uomo, ma ordino che stia in silenzio.
13 Infatti è stato formato per primo Adamo e poi Eva.
14 E non fu Adamo ad essere sedotto ma fu la donna che, essendo stata sedotta, cadde in trasgressione.
15 Tuttavia essa sarà salvata partorendo figli, se persevererà nella fede, nell'amore e nella santificazione con modestia.

2 First of all, then, I counsel that petitions, prayers, intercessions and thanksgivings be made for all human beings, 2 including kings and all in positions of prominence; so that we may lead quiet and peaceful lives, being godly and upright in everything. 3 This is what God, our Deliverer, regards as good; this is what meets his approval.
4 He wants all humanity to be delivered and come to full knowledge of the truth. 5 For God is one;[a] and there is but one Mediator between God and humanity, Yeshua the Messiah, himself human, 6 who gave himself as a ransom on behalf of all, thus providing testimony to God’s purpose at just the right time. 7 This is why I myself was appointed a proclaimer, even an emissary — I am telling the truth, not lying! — a trustworthy and truthful teacher of the Goyim.
8 Therefore, it is my wish that when the men pray, no matter where, they should lift up hands that are holy — they should not become angry or get into arguments.
9 Likewise, the women, when they pray, should be dressed modestly and sensibly in respectable attire, not with elaborate hairstyles and gold jewelry, or pearls, or expensive clothes. 10 Rather, they should adorn themselves with what is appropriate for women who claim to be worshipping God, namely, good deeds.
11 Let a woman learn in peace, fully submitted; 12 but I do not permit a woman to teach a man or exercise authority over him; rather, she is to remain at peace. 13 For Adam was formed first, then Havah. 14 Also it was not Adam who was deceived, but the woman who, on being deceived, became involved in the transgression. 15 Nevertheless, the woman will be delivered through childbearing, provided that she continues trusting, loving and living a holy life with modesty.

2 I urge, then, first of all, that petitions, prayers,(A) intercession and thanksgiving be made for all people— 2 for kings and all those in authority,(B) that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness(C) and holiness. 3 This is good, and pleases(D) God our Savior,(E) 4 who wants(F) all people(G) to be saved(H) and to come to a knowledge of the truth.(I) 5 For there is one God(J) and one mediator(K) between God and mankind, the man Christ Jesus,(L) 6 who gave himself as a ransom(M) for all people. This has now been witnessed to(N) at the proper time.(O) 7 And for this purpose I was appointed a herald and an apostle—I am telling the truth, I am not lying(P)—and a true and faithful teacher(Q) of the Gentiles.(R)
8 Therefore I want the men everywhere to pray, lifting up holy hands(S) without anger or disputing. 9 I also want the women to dress modestly, with decency and propriety, adorning themselves, not with elaborate hairstyles or gold or pearls or expensive clothes,(T) 10 but with good deeds,(U) appropriate for women who profess to worship God.
