1 Timothy 2:12-3:7
English Standard Version
12 (A)I do not permit a woman to teach or to exercise authority over a man; rather, she is to remain quiet. 13 (B)For Adam was formed first, (C)then Eve; 14 and Adam was not deceived, but (D)the woman was deceived and became a transgressor. 15 Yet she will be saved through (E)childbearing—if they continue in (F)faith and love and holiness, with self-control.
Qualifications for Overseers
3 The saying is (G)trustworthy: If anyone aspires to (H)the office of overseer, he desires a noble task. 2 Therefore (I)an overseer[a] must be above reproach, (J)the husband of one wife,[b] (K)sober-minded, self-controlled, respectable, (L)hospitable, (M)able to teach, 3 not a drunkard, not violent but (N)gentle, not quarrelsome, (O)not a lover of money. 4 He must manage his own household well, with all dignity (P)keeping his children submissive, 5 for if someone does not know how to manage his own household, how will he care for (Q)God's church? 6 He must not be a recent convert, or he may (R)become puffed up with conceit and fall into the condemnation of the devil. 7 Moreover, he must be well thought of by (S)outsiders, so that he may not fall into disgrace, into (T)a snare of the devil.
