The Good Fight of Faith

¹¹ But as for you, man of God, shun all this; pursue righteousness, godliness, faith, love, endurance, gentleness.

²² Shun youthful passions and pursue righteousness, faith, love, and peace, along with those who call on the Lord from a pure heart.^(A)

¹⁷ so that the person of God may be proficient, equipped for every good work.^(A)

¹² Let no one despise your youth, but set the believers an example in speech and conduct, in love, in faith, in purity.^(A)

Warnings against Rejecting God’s Grace

¹⁴ Pursue peace with everyone and the holiness without which no one will see the Lord.

⁵ For this very reason, you must make every effort to support your faith with excellence, and excellence with knowledge,^{(A) 6} and knowledge with self-control, and self-control with endurance, and endurance with godliness, ⁷ and godliness with mutual affection, and mutual affection with love.

⁸ Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is pleasing, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence and if there is anything worthy of praise, think about^[a] these things. ⁹ As for the things that you have learned and received and heard and noticed in me, do them, and the God of peace will be with you.^(A)

¹⁴ Therefore, my beloved, flee from the worship of idols.^(A)

¹⁸ Shun sexual immorality!^[a] Every sin that a person commits is outside the body, but the sexually immoral person^[b] sins against the body itself.^(A)
