¹⁶ Watch your life and doctrine closely. Persevere in them, because if you do, you will save^(A) both yourself and your hearers.

⁹ He must hold firmly^(A) to the trustworthy message as it has been taught, so that he can encourage others by sound doctrine^(B) and refute those who oppose it.

⁷ In everything set them an example^(A) by doing what is good.^(B) In your teaching show integrity, seriousness

⁸ Watch out that you do not lose what we^[a] have worked for, but that you may be rewarded fully.^{(A) 9} Anyone who runs ahead and does not continue in the teaching of Christ^(B) does not have God; whoever continues in the teaching has both the Father and the Son.^(C)

¹⁰ By the grace God has given me,^(A) I laid a foundation^(B) as a wise builder, and someone else is building on it. But each one should build with care. ¹¹ For no one can lay any foundation other than the one already laid, which is Jesus Christ.^(C)

⁷ “Son of man, I have made you a watchman^(A) for the people of Israel; so hear the word I speak and give them warning from me.^{(B) 8} When I say to the wicked, ‘You wicked person, you will surely die,^(C)’ and you do not speak out to dissuade them from their ways, that wicked person will die for^[a] their sin, and I will hold you accountable for their blood.^{(D) 9} But if you do warn the wicked person to turn from their ways and they do not do so,^(E) they will die for their sin, though you yourself will be saved.^(F)

²⁶ Therefore, I declare to you today that I am innocent of the blood of any of you.^{(A) 27} For I have not hesitated to proclaim to you the whole will of God.^{(B) 28} Keep watch over yourselves and all the flock^(C) of which the Holy Spirit has made you overseers.^(D) Be shepherds of the church of God,^[a](E) which he bought^(F) with his own blood.^[b](G)

¹⁰ Consider now, for the Lord has chosen you to build a house as the sanctuary. Be strong and do the work.”

¹⁵ See to it that no one falls short of the grace of God^(A) and that no bitter root^(B) grows up to cause trouble and defile many.
