⁵ For if a man cannot manage his own household, how can he take care of God’s church?

¹³ I have warned him that judgment is coming upon his family forever, because his sons are blaspheming God^[a] and he hasn’t disciplined them.

²⁴ As the church submits to Christ, so you wives should submit to your husbands in everything.

³² This is a great mystery, but it is an illustration of the way Christ and the church are one.

¹⁵ so that if I am delayed, you will know how people must conduct themselves in the household of God. This is the church of the living God, which is the pillar and foundation of the truth.

²² God has put all things under the authority of Christ and has made him head over all things for the benefit of the church.

²⁸ “So guard yourselves and God’s people. Feed and shepherd God’s flock—his church, purchased with his own blood^[a]—over which the Holy Spirit has appointed you as leaders.^[b]

²⁹ So why do you scorn my sacrifices and offerings? Why do you give your sons more honor than you give me—for you and they have become fat from the best offerings of my people Israel!

³⁰ “Therefore, the Lord, the God of Israel, says: I promised that your branch of the tribe of Levi^[a] would always be my priests. But I will honor those who honor me, and I will despise those who think lightly of me.

³² Don’t give offense to Jews or Gentiles^[a] or the church of God.
