^3 (A)that no one should be shaken by these afflictions; for you yourselves know that ^(B)we are appointed to this.

²² strengthening the souls of the disciples, ^(A)exhorting them to continue in the faith, and saying, ^(B)“We must through many tribulations enter the kingdom of God.”

³ And not only that, but ^(A)we also glory in tribulations, ^(B)knowing that tribulation produces ^[a]perseverance;

^58 (A)Therefore, my beloved brethren, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing ^(B)that your labor is not in vain in the Lord.

¹³ Then Paul answered, ^(A)“What do you mean by weeping and breaking my heart? For I am ready not only to be bound, but also to die at Jerusalem for the name of the Lord Jesus.”

¹⁶ For ^(A)I will show him how many things he must suffer for My ^(B)name’s sake.”

³³ These things I have spoken to you, that ^(A)in Me you may have peace. ^(B)In the world you ^[a]will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, ^(C)I have overcome the world.”

⁹ For ^(A)God did not appoint us to wrath, ^(B)but to obtain salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ,

⁹ For I think that God has displayed us, the apostles, last, as men condemned to death; for we have been made a ^(A)spectacle ^[a]to the world, both to angels and to men.

Persecutions Are Coming^(A)

^16 (B)“Behold, I send you out as sheep in the midst of wolves. ^(C)Therefore be wise as serpents and ^(D)harmless^[a] as doves. ¹⁷ But beware of men, for ^(E)they will deliver you up to councils and ^(F)scourge you in their synagogues. ^18 (G)You will be brought before governors and kings for My sake, as a testimony to them and to the Gentiles.
