⁶ So then ^(A)let us not sleep, as others do, but let us ^(B)keep awake and ^(C)be sober.

Called to Be Holy

¹³ Therefore, ^(A)preparing your minds for action,^[a] and ^(B)being sober-minded, set your hope fully on the grace that will be brought to you at the revelation of Jesus Christ.

⁴² Therefore, ^(A)stay awake, for you do not know on what day ^(B)your Lord is coming.

¹¹ Besides this you know the time, that the hour has come for you ^(A)to wake from sleep. ^(B)For salvation is nearer to us now than when we first believed. ^12 (C)The night is far gone; the day is at hand. So then let us ^(D)cast off ^(E)the works of darkness and ^(F)put on the armor of light. ^13 (G)Let us walk properly as in the daytime, ^(H)not in orgies and drunkenness, not in sexual immorality and sensuality, ^(I)not in quarreling and jealousy. ¹⁴ But ^(J)put on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make no provision for the flesh, ^(K)to gratify its desires.

⁴⁶ and he said to them, “Why are you sleeping? Rise and ^(A)pray that you may not enter into temptation.”

^8 (A)Be sober-minded; ^(B)be watchful. Your ^(C)adversary the devil ^(D)prowls around ^(E)like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour.

¹⁵ (“Behold, ^(A)I am coming like a thief! ^(B)Blessed is the one who stays awake, keeping his garments on, ^(C)that he may not go about naked and be seen exposed!”)

¹² training us to renounce ungodliness and ^(A)worldly passions, and ^(B)to live self-controlled, upright, and godly lives in ^(C)the present age,

¹⁴ for anything that becomes visible is light. Therefore it says,
