The one who speaks in a tongue builds up himself, but the one who prophesies builds up the church. Now I want you all to speak in tongues, but (A)even more to prophesy. The one who prophesies is greater than the one who speaks in tongues, unless someone interprets, so that the church may be built up.

Now, brothers,[a] if I come to you speaking in tongues, how will I benefit you unless I bring you some (B)revelation or knowledge or prophecy or (C)teaching?

25 Then (A)the Lord came down in the cloud and spoke to him, and took some of the Spirit that was on him and put it on the seventy elders. And as soon as the Spirit rested on them, they prophesied. But they did not continue doing it.

26 Now two men remained in the camp, one named Eldad, and the other named Medad, and the Spirit rested on them. They were among those registered, but they (B)had not gone out to the tent, and so they prophesied in the camp. 27 And a young man ran and told Moses, “Eldad and Medad are prophesying in the camp.” 28 And (C)Joshua the son of Nun, the assistant of Moses from his youth, said, “My lord Moses, (D)stop them.” 29 But Moses said to him, “Are you jealous for my sake? (E)Would that all the Lord's people were prophets, that the Lord would put his Spirit on them!”

They have the power (F)to shut the sky, that no rain may fall during the days of their prophesying, and they have power over the waters to turn them into blood and (G)to strike the earth with every kind of plague, as often as they desire. And when they have finished their testimony, (H)the beast that rises from (I)the bottomless pit[a] (J)will make war on them and conquer them and kill them, and their dead bodies will lie in the street of the great city that symbolically[b] is called (K)Sodom and (L)Egypt, where their Lord was crucified.
