² For you yourselves know perfectly that ^(A)the day of the Lord so comes as a thief in the night.

^15 (A)“Behold, I am coming as a thief. Blessed is he who watches, and keeps his garments, ^(B)lest he walk naked and they see his shame.”

The Day of the Lord

¹⁰ But ^(A)the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night, in which ^(B)the heavens will pass away with a great noise, and the elements will melt with fervent heat; both the earth and the works that are in it will be ^[a]burned up.

^39 (A)But know this, that if the master of the house had known what hour the thief would come, he would ^[a]have watched and not allowed his house to be broken into. ^40 (B)Therefore you also be ready, for the Son of Man is coming at an hour you do not expect.”

^3 (A)Remember therefore how you have received and heard; hold fast and ^(B)repent. ^(C)Therefore if you will not watch, I will come upon you ^(D)as a thief, and you will not know what hour I will come upon you.

^34 (A)It is like a man going to a far country, who left his house and gave ^(B)authority to his servants, and to each his work, and commanded the doorkeeper to watch. ^35 (C)Watch therefore, for you do not know when the master of the house is coming—in the evening, at midnight, at the crowing of the rooster, or in the morning—
