Plea for Purity

4 Finally then, brethren, we urge and exhort in the Lord Jesus ^(A)that you should abound more and more, ^(B)just as you received from us how you ought to walk and to please God;

^10 (A)that you may walk worthy of the Lord, ^(B)fully pleasing Him, ^(C)being fruitful in every good work and increasing in the ^(D)knowledge of God;

God’s Final Judgment and Glory

³ We are bound to thank God always for you, brethren, as it is fitting, because your faith grows exceedingly, and the love of every one of you all abounds toward each other,

^18 (A)but grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

^(B)To Him be the glory both now and forever. Amen.

^16 (A)But do not forget to do good and to share, for ^(B)with such sacrifices God is well pleased.

Fruitful Growth in the Faith

⁵ But also for this very reason, ^(A)giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue, to virtue ^(B)knowledge, ⁶ to knowledge self-control, to self-control ^[a]perseverance, to perseverance godliness, ⁷ to godliness brotherly kindness, and ^(C)to brotherly kindness love. ⁸ For if these things are yours and abound, you will be neither ^[b]barren ^(D)nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. ⁹ For he who lacks these things is ^(E)shortsighted, even to blindness, and has forgotten that he was cleansed from his old sins.

¹⁰ Therefore, brethren, be even more diligent ^(F)to make your call and election sure, for if you do these things you will never stumble;

⁹ And this I pray, that your love may abound still more and more in knowledge and all discernment,

²² And ^(A)whatever we ask we receive from Him, because we keep His commandments ^(B)and do those things that are pleasing in His sight.

¹⁰ and indeed you do so toward all the brethren who are in all Macedonia. But we urge you, brethren, ^(A)that you increase more and more; ¹¹ that you also aspire to lead a quiet life, ^(B)to mind your own business, and ^(C)to work with your own hands, as we commanded you, ^12 (D)that you may walk properly toward those who are outside, and that you may lack nothing.
