⁵ For this reason, when I could no longer endure it, I sent to know your faith, ^(A)lest by some means the tempter had tempted you, and ^(B)our labor might be in vain.

¹³ Let no one say when he is tempted, “I am tempted by God”; for God cannot be tempted by evil, nor does He Himself tempt anyone. ¹⁴ But each one is tempted when he is drawn away by his own desires and enticed.

¹¹ lest Satan should take advantage of us; for we are not ignorant of his devices.

³ Now when the tempter came to Him, he said, “If You are the Son of God, command that these stones become bread.”

¹⁶ holding fast the word of life, so that ^(A)I may rejoice in the day of Christ that ^(B)I have not run in vain or labored in ^(C)vain.

¹⁴ that we should no longer be ^(A)children, tossed to and fro and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the trickery of men, in the cunning craftiness of ^(B)deceitful plotting,

Only One Gospel

⁶ I marvel that you are turning away so soon ^(A)from Him who called you in the grace of Christ, to a different gospel, ^7 (B)which is not another; but there are some ^(C)who trouble you and want to ^(D)pervert^[a] the gospel of Christ. ⁸ But even if ^(E)we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel to you than what we have preached to you, let him be ^[b]accursed. ⁹ As we have said before, so now I say again, if anyone preaches any other gospel to you ^(F)than what you have received, let him be accursed.

^5 (A)Do not deprive one another except with consent for a time, that you may give yourselves to fasting and prayer; and come together again so that ^(B)Satan does not tempt you because of your lack of self-control.

Concern for Their Faith

3 Therefore, when we could no longer endure it, we thought it good to be left in Athens alone, ² and sent ^(A)Timothy, our brother and minister of God, and our fellow laborer in the gospel of Christ, to establish you and encourage you concerning your faith,
