^9 (A)For God is my witness, ^(B)whom I serve with my spirit in the gospel of his Son, ^(C)that without ceasing I mention you

¹² cargo of gold, silver, jewels, pearls, fine linen, purple cloth, silk, scarlet cloth, all kinds of scented wood, all kinds of articles of ivory, all kinds of articles of costly wood, bronze, iron and marble, ¹³ cinnamon, spice, incense, myrrh, frankincense, wine, oil, fine flour, wheat, cattle and sheep, horses and chariots, and slaves, that is, human souls.^[a]

¹⁸ For, ^(A)speaking loud boasts of folly, they entice by sensual passions of the flesh those who are barely ^(B)escaping from those who live in error.

¹⁴ They have eyes full of adultery,^{[a] (A)}insatiable for sin. They entice unsteady souls. They have hearts ^(B)trained in greed. ^(C)Accursed children! ¹⁵ Forsaking the right way, ^(D)they have gone astray. They have followed ^(E)the way of Balaam, the son of Beor, who loved ^(F)gain from wrongdoing,

³ And ^(A)in their greed they will exploit you ^(B)with false words. ^(C)Their condemnation from long ago is not idle, and their destruction is not asleep.

^2 (A)shepherd the flock of God that is among you, exercising oversight,^{[a] (B)}not under compulsion, but willingly, as God would have you;^{[b] (C)}not for shameful gain, but eagerly;
