58 (A)Therefore, my beloved brothers, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in (B)the work of the Lord, knowing that in the Lord (C)your labor is not in vain.
5 For this reason, (A)when I could bear it no longer, (B)I sent to learn about your faith, (C)for fear that somehow (D)the tempter had tempted you and (E)our labor would be in vain.
13 And (A)we also thank God constantly[a] for this, that when you received (B)the word of God, which you heard from us, you accepted it (C)not as the word of men[b] but as what it really is, the word of God, (D)which is at work in you believers.
3 remembering before (A)our God and Father (B)your work of faith and labor of (C)love and (D)steadfastness of hope in our Lord Jesus Christ.4 For we know, (E)brothers[a] loved by God, (F)that he has chosen you,5 because (G)our gospel came to you not only in word, but also in power and (H)in the Holy Spirit and with full (I)conviction. You know (J)what kind of men we proved to be among you for your sake.6 And (K)you became imitators of us (L)and of the Lord, for (M)you received the word in much affliction, (N)with the (O)joy of the Holy Spirit,7 so that you became an example to all the believers in Macedonia and in Achaia.8 For not only has the word of the Lord (P)sounded forth from you in Macedonia and Achaia, but your faith in God has gone forth (Q)everywhere, so that we need not say anything.9 For they themselves report concerning us the kind of (R)reception we had among you, and how (S)you turned to God (T)from idols to serve the living and (U)true God,10 and (V)to wait for his Son (W)from heaven, (X)whom he raised from the dead, Jesus (Y)who delivers us from (Z)the wrath to come.
1 Thessalonians 1:4Or brothers and sisters. In New Testament usage, depending on the context, the plural Greek word adelphoi (translated “brothers”) may refer either to brothers or to brothers and sisters
2 I went up because of a revelation and set before them (though privately before those (A)who seemed influential) the gospel that (B)I proclaim among the Gentiles, (C)in order to make sure I was not running or had not (D)run in vain.
10 But by the grace of God I am what I am, and his grace toward me was not in vain. On the contrary, (A)I worked harder than any of them, (B)though it was not I, but the grace of God that is with me.
23 (A)They shall not labor in vain (B)or bear children for calamity,[a] for (C)they shall be the offspring of the blessed of the Lord, and their descendants with them.
4 (A)But I said, “I have labored in vain; I have spent my strength for nothing and vanity; yet surely my right is with the Lord, and my recompense with my God.”
10 (A)when he comes on (B)that day (C)to be glorified in his saints, and to be marveled at among all who have believed, because our (D)testimony to you (E)was believed.
