5 Ahora bien, hermanos, con respecto a los tiempos(A) y a las épocas, no tenéis necesidad de que se os escriba(B) nada. 2 Pues vosotros mismos sabéis perfectamente que el día del Señor vendrá[a](C) así como un ladrón en la noche(D); 3 que cuando estén diciendo: Paz y seguridad(E), entonces la destrucción[b] vendrá sobre ellos repentinamente[c](F), como dolores de parto a una mujer que está encinta(G), y no escaparán. 4 Mas vosotros, hermanos, no estáis en tinieblas(H), para que el día os sorprenda como ladrón[d](I); 5 porque todos vosotros sois hijos de la luz(J) e hijos del día. No somos de la noche ni de las tinieblas(K). 6 Por tanto, no durmamos(L) como los demás(M), sino estemos alerta y seamos sobrios[e](N). 7 Porque los que duermen, de noche duermen, y los que se emborrachan, de noche se emborrachan(O). 8 Pero puesto que nosotros somos del día(P), seamos sobrios[f](Q), habiéndonos puesto la coraza(R) de la fe y del amor(S), y por yelmo(T) la esperanza de la salvación(U). 9 Porque no nos ha destinado[g] Dios para ira(V), sino para obtener salvación por medio de nuestro Señor Jesucristo(W), 10 que murió por nosotros(X), para que ya sea que estemos despiertos o dormidos, vivamos juntamente con Él. 11 Por tanto, alentaos[h] los unos a los otros, y edificaos el uno al otro(Y), tal como lo estáis haciendo.

12 Pero os rogamos hermanos, que reconozcáis[i](Z) a los que con diligencia trabajan entre vosotros(AA), y os dirigen[j](AB) en el Señor y os instruyen[k], 13 y que los tengáis en muy alta estima con amor, por causa de su trabajo. Vivid en paz los unos con los otros(AC). 14 Y os exhortamos, hermanos, a que amonestéis a los indisciplinados[l](AD), animéis a los desalentados(AE), sostengáis a los débiles(AF) y seáis pacientes(AG) con todos. 15 Mirad que ninguno devuelva a otro mal por mal(AH), sino procurad siempre lo bueno los unos para con los otros(AI), y para con todos. 16 Estad siempre gozosos(AJ); 17 orad sin cesar(AK); 18 dad gracias en todo(AL), porque esta es la voluntad de Dios para vosotros en Cristo Jesús. 19 No apaguéis el Espíritu(AM); 20 no menospreciéis las profecías[m](AN). 21 Antes bien, examinadlo todo cuidadosamente(AO), retened lo bueno(AP); 22 absteneos de toda forma[n] de mal.
Pablo ora por la santificación de los tesalonicenses
23 Y que el mismo(AQ) Dios de paz(AR) os santifique por completo[o]; y que todo vuestro ser, espíritu, alma y cuerpo(AS), sea preservado irreprensible(AT) para[p] la venida de nuestro Señor Jesucristo(AU). 24 Fiel(AV) es el que os llama(AW), el cual también lo hará.

1 Thessalonians 5

5 But of the times and the seasons, brethren, ye have no need that I write unto you.
2 For yourselves know perfectly that the day of the Lord so cometh as a thief in the night.
3 For when they shall say, Peace and safety; then sudden destruction cometh upon them, as travail upon a woman with child; and they shall not escape.
4 But ye, brethren, are not in darkness, that that day should overtake you as a thief.
5 Ye are all the children of light, and the children of the day: we are not of the night, nor of darkness.
6 Therefore let us not sleep, as do others; but let us watch and be sober.
7 For they that sleep sleep in the night; and they that be drunken are drunken in the night.
8 But let us, who are of the day, be sober, putting on the breastplate of faith and love; and for an helmet, the hope of salvation.
9 For God hath not appointed us to wrath, but to obtain salvation by our Lord Jesus Christ,
10 Who died for us, that, whether we wake or sleep, we should live together with him.
11 Wherefore comfort yourselves together, and edify one another, even as also ye do.
12 And we beseech you, brethren, to know them which labour among you, and are over you in the Lord, and admonish you;
13 And to esteem them very highly in love for their work's sake. And be at peace among yourselves.
14 Now we exhort you, brethren, warn them that are unruly, comfort the feebleminded, support the weak, be patient toward all men.
15 See that none render evil for evil unto any man; but ever follow that which is good, both among yourselves, and to all men.
16 Rejoice evermore.
17 Pray without ceasing.
18 In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.
19 Quench not the Spirit.
20 Despise not prophesyings.
21 Prove all things; hold fast that which is good.
22 Abstain from all appearance of evil.
23 And the very God of peace sanctify you wholly; and I pray God your whole spirit and soul and body be preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.
24 Faithful is he that calleth you, who also will do it.
25 Brethren, pray for us.
26 Greet all the brethren with an holy kiss.
27 I charge you by the Lord that this epistle be read unto all the holy brethren.
28 The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you. Amen.

5 Thưa anh chị em, về thì giờ và thời kỳ, chúng tôi không cần phải viết cho anh chị em. 2 Vì chính anh chị em biết rõ rằng ngày của Chúa sẽ đến như kẻ trộm lúc đêm khuya. 3 Khi người ta tuyên bố: Hòa bình và an ninh thì tai họa sẽ thình lình xảy đến cho họ như cơn đau chuyển dạ xảy đến cho người đàn bà có thai và họ sẽ không tránh đâu cho được.
4 Nhưng thưa anh chị em, anh chị em không ở trong bóng tối đến nỗi ngày ấy bất ngờ đến với anh chị em như kẻ trộm. 5 Vì tất cả anh chị em đều là con cái của ánh sáng, con cái của ban ngày. Chúng ta không thuộc về ban đêm hay bóng tối. 6 Vậy, chúng ta không nên ngủ mê như những người khác nhưng hãy cảnh giác và tỉnh thức. 7 Vì ai ngủ thì ngủ ban đêm và ai say sưa thì say sưa ban đêm. 8 Nhưng chúng ta thuộc về ban ngày, hãy tỉnh thức, mặc áo giáp bằng đức tin và tình yêu thương, đội mão bằng hy vọng cứu rỗi. 9 Vì Đức Chúa Trời đã không định cho chúng ta bị cơn thịnh nộ nhưng được hưởng ơn cứu rỗi bởi Chúa Cứu Thế Giê-su, Chúa chúng ta, 10 Đấng đã chết vì chúng ta để chúng ta dù thức hay ngủ đều được sống với Ngài.
11 Vậy, anh chị em hãy khuyến khích lẫn nhau và xây dựng cho nhau như anh chị em vẫn đang làm.
Những Lời Khuyên Bảo Và Chào Tạm Biệt
12 Thưa anh chị em, xin anh chị em quý trọng những người làm việc khó nhọc giữa anh chị em, là những người nhân danh Chúa lãnh đạo và khuyên bảo anh chị em. 13 Hãy lấy tình thương mà tôn kính họ vì công việc họ làm. Anh chị em hãy sống hòa thuận với nhau.
14 Thưa anh chị em, chúng tôi xin anh chị em hãy khuyên bảo những người vô trách nhiệm, khuyến khích những người nhút nhát, nâng đỡ kẻ yếu đuối và kiên nhẫn với mọi người. 15 Hãy cẩn thận, đừng lấy ác báo ác nhưng luôn luôn cố gắng làm điều thiện cho nhau và cho mọi người.
16 Hãy vui mừng mãi mãi; 17 cầu nguyện không ngừng; 18 trong mọi hoàn cảnh, hãy cảm tạ vì đây là ý muốn Đức Chúa Trời cho anh chị em trong Chúa Cứu Thế Giê-su.[a]
19 Chớ dập tắt Thánh Linh,
20 Đừng khinh rẻ lời tiên tri.[b]
21 Hãy xem xét mọi sự, điều gì lành thì hãy giữ lấy, 22 mọi hình thức gian ác thì hãy tránh xa.
23 Nguyện xin chính Đức Chúa Trời bình an thánh hóa anh chị em hoàn toàn. Nguyện tâm linh, tâm hồn và thân thể anh chị em được gìn giữ trọn vẹn, không có gì đáng trách trong ngày Chúa Cứu Thế Giê-su, Chúa chúng ta quang lâm.[c] 24 Đấng kêu gọi anh chị em là thành tín, chính Ngài sẽ thực hiện điều ấy.
25 Thưa anh chị em, xin anh chị em hãy cầu nguyện cho chúng tôi.
26 Hãy chào tất cả anh chị em trong tình thân ái.[d]
27 Nhân danh Chúa, tôi xin anh chị em hãy đọc thư này cho tất cả anh chị em nghe.

The Day of the Lord
5 But concerning (A)the times and the seasons, brethren, you have no need that I should write to you. 2 For you yourselves know perfectly that (B)the day of the Lord so comes as a thief in the night. 3 For when they say, “Peace and safety!” then (C)sudden destruction comes upon them, (D)as labor pains upon a pregnant woman. And they shall not escape. 4 (E)But you, brethren, are not in darkness, so that this Day should overtake you as a thief. 5 You are all (F)sons of light and sons of the day. We are not of the night nor of darkness. 6 (G)Therefore let us not sleep, as others do, but (H)let us watch and be [a]sober. 7 For (I)those who sleep, sleep at night, and those who get drunk (J)are drunk at night. 8 But let us who are of the day be sober, (K)putting on the breastplate of faith and love, and as a helmet the hope of salvation. 9 For (L)God did not appoint us to wrath, (M)but to obtain salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ, 10 (N)who died for us, that whether we wake or sleep, we should live together with Him.

14 Now we [e]exhort you, brethren, (Q)warn those who are [f]unruly, (R)comfort the fainthearted, (S)uphold the weak, (T)be patient with all. 15 (U)See that no one renders evil for evil to anyone, but always (V)pursue what is good both for yourselves and for all.
16 (W)Rejoice always, 17 (X)pray without ceasing, 18 in everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.

Blessing and Admonition
