Davide nel paese dei Filistei
27 (A)Davide disse in cuor suo: «Un giorno o l’altro perirò per mano di Saul; non vi è nulla di meglio per me che rifugiarmi nel paese dei Filistei. Così Saul, perduta ogni speranza, smetterà di cercarmi per tutto il territorio d’Israele e io sfuggirò alle sue mani». 2 Davide dunque si mosse e, con i seicento uomini che aveva con sé, andò da Achis, figlio di Maoc, re di Gat. 3 Davide si fermò presso Achis, a Gat, egli con la sua gente, ciascuno con la sua famiglia. Davide aveva con sé le sue due mogli: Ainoam di Izreel e Abigail di Carmel, che era stata moglie di Nabal. 4 Allora Saul, informato che Davide era fuggito a Gat, smise di cercarlo.
5 Davide disse ad Achis: «Se ho trovato grazia agli occhi tuoi, mi sia dato, in una delle città della campagna, un luogo dove io possa stabilirmi; perché dovrebbe il tuo servo abitare presso di te nella città reale?» 6 E Achis, quello stesso giorno, gli diede Siclag; perciò Siclag è appartenuta ai re di Giuda fino al giorno d’oggi. 7 Davide rimase nel paese dei Filistei un anno e quattro mesi.
8 Davide e la sua gente salivano e facevano delle scorrerie nel paese dei Ghesuriti, dei Ghirziti e degli Amalechiti; poiché queste popolazioni abitavano da tempi antichi il paese, dal lato di Sur fino al paese d’Egitto. 9 Davide devastava il paese, non vi lasciava in vita né uomo né donna e prendeva pecore, buoi, asini, cammelli e vesti; poi tornava indietro e andava da Achis. 10 Achis domandava: «Dove avete fatto la scorreria oggi?» Davide rispondeva: «Verso la regione meridionale di Giuda, verso la regione meridionale degli Ierameeliti e verso la regione meridionale dei Chenei». 11 Davide non lasciava in vita né uomo né donna da portare a Gat, poiché diceva: «Potrebbero parlare contro di noi e dire: “Così ha fatto Davide”». Questo fu il suo modo d’agire tutto il tempo che abitò nel paese dei Filistei. 12 Achis aveva fiducia in Davide e diceva: «Egli si rende odioso a Israele, suo popolo; così sarà mio servo per sempre».

27 Or Davide disse in cuor suo: «Un giorno o l'altro io perirò per mano di Saul; non vi è nulla di meglio per me che mettermi in salvo nel paese dei Filistei; così Saul desisterà dal ricercarmi ancora in tutto il territorio d'Israele così scamperò dalle sue mani».
2 Perciò Davide si levò e si recò con i seicento uomini che aveva con sé, da Akish figlio di Maok, re di Gath.
3 Così Davide rimase con Akish a Gath, lui e i suoi uomini, ciascuno con la sua famiglia; Davide con le sue due mogli: Ahinoam la Jezreelita, e Abigail la Karmelita, già moglie di Nabal.
4 Fu quindi riferito a Saul che Davide era fuggito a Gath, ed egli non lo cercò più.
5 Davide disse ad Akish: «Se ho trovato grazia ai tuoi occhi, mi sia dato un luogo in una città della campagna dove io possa abitare. Perché dovrebbe il tuo servo abitare con te nella città reale?».
6 Così quel giorno Akish gli diede Tsiklag; per questo Tsiklag è appartenuta ai re di Giuda fino al giorno d'oggi.
7 Il tempo che Davide rimase nel paese dei Filistei fu di un anno e quattro mesi.
8 Davide e i suoi uomini salivano e facevano razzie nel paese dei Gheshuriti dei Ghirziti e degli Amalekiti; queste popolazioni abitavano da tempi antichi il paese, estendendosi da Shur fino al paese d'Egitto.
9 Davide devastava il paese e non lasciava in vita né uomo né donna, prendeva quindi pecore, buoi, asini, cammelli e indumenti, e ritornava e andava da Akish.
10 Quando Akish chiedeva: «Dove avete fatto razzie quest'oggi?» Davide rispondeva: «Contro il sud di Giuda contro il sud del Kenei».
11 Davide non lasciava in vita né uomo né donna, perché potevano portare notizie e diceva: «Potrebbero dare notizie a nostro riguardo e dire: "Così ha fatto Davide"». Questo fu il suo modo di agire tutto il tempo che rimase nel paese dei Filistei
12 Così Akish si fidava di Davide e diceva: «Egli si è reso odioso al suo popolo Israele e così sarà per sempre mio servo».

27 2 David fleeth to Achish King of Gath, who giveth him Ziklag. 8 David destroyeth certain of the Philistines. 10 Achish is deceived by David.
1 And David said in his heart, I shall now [a]perish one day by the hand of Saul: is it not better for me that I save myself in the land of the Philistines, and that Saul may have no hope of me to seek me anymore in all the coasts of Israel, and so escape out of his hand?
2 David therefore arose, and he, and the six hundred men that were with him, went unto Achish the son of Maoch king of Gath.
3 And David [b]dwelt with Achish at Gath, he, and his men, every man with his household, David with his two wives, Ahinoam the Jezreelite, and Abigail Nabal’s wife the Carmelite.
4 And it was told Saul that David was fled to Gath: so he sought no more for him.
5 And David said unto Achish, If I have now found grace in thine eyes, [c]let them give me a place in some other city of the country, that I may dwell there: for why should thy servant dwell in the head city of the kingdom with thee?
6 Then Achish gave him Ziklag that same day: therefore Ziklag pertaineth unto the kings of Judah unto this day.
7 ¶ And [d]the time that David dwelt in the country of the Philistines, was four months and certain days.
8 Then David and his men went up, and invaded the [e]Geshurites, and the Girzites, and the Amalekites: for they inhabited the land from the beginning, from the way, as thou goest to Shur, even unto the land of Egypt.
9 And David smote the land, and left neither man nor woman alive, and took sheep, and oxen, and asses, and camels, and apparel, and returned and came to Achish.
10 And Achish said, [f]Where have ye been a roving this day? And David answered, Against the South of Judah, and against the South of the [g]Jerahmeelites, and against the South of the Kenites.
11 And David saved neither man nor woman alive, to bring them to Gath, saying, Lest they should tell on us, and say, So did David, and so will be his manner all the while that he dwelleth in the country of the Philistines.
12 And Achish believed David, saying, [h]He hath made his people of Israel utterly to abhor him: therefore he shall be my servant forever.
