También mataron[c] a los criados a filo de espada; solo yo[d] escapé para contártelo. 16 Mientras estaba este hablando, vino otro y dijo: Fuego de Dios cayó del cielo y quemó las ovejas y a los criados y los consumió(B); solo yo escapé para contártelo. 17 Mientras estaba este hablando, vino otro y dijo: Los caldeos(C) formaron tres cuadrillas y atacaron los camellos y se los llevaron, y mataron[e] a los criados a filo de espada; solo yo escapé para contártelo. 18 Mientras estaba este hablando, vino otro y dijo: Tus hijos y tus hijas estaban comiendo y bebiendo vino en la casa de su hermano mayor, 19 y he aquí, vino un gran viento del otro lado del desierto y azotó las cuatro esquinas de la casa, y esta cayó sobre los jóvenes y murieron; solo yo escapé para contártelo.

15 and the Sabeans(A) attacked and made off with them. They put the servants to the sword, and I am the only one who has escaped to tell you!”
16 While he was still speaking, another messenger came and said, “The fire of God fell from the heavens(B) and burned up the sheep and the servants,(C) and I am the only one who has escaped to tell you!”
17 While he was still speaking, another messenger came and said, “The Chaldeans(D) formed three raiding parties and swept down on your camels and made off with them. They put the servants to the sword, and I am the only one who has escaped to tell you!”
18 While he was still speaking, yet another messenger came and said, “Your sons and daughters(E) were feasting(F) and drinking wine at the oldest brother’s house, 19 when suddenly a mighty wind(G) swept in from the desert and struck the four corners of the house. It collapsed on them and they are dead,(H) and I am the only one who has escaped to tell you!(I)”
