Los filisteos desconfían de David
29 Los filisteos juntaron todas sus fuerzas en Afec, e Israel acampó junto a la fuente que está en Jizreel.
2 Y cuando los príncipes de los filisteos pasaban revista a sus compañías de a ciento y de a mil hombres, David y sus hombres iban en la retaguardia con Aquís.
3 Y dijeron los príncipes de los filisteos: ¿Qué hacen aquí estos hebreos? Y Aquís respondió a los príncipes de los filisteos: ¿No es éste David, el siervo de Saúl rey de Israel, que ha estado conmigo por días y años, y no he hallado falta en él desde el día que se pasó a mí hasta hoy?
4 Entonces los príncipes de los filisteos se enojaron contra él, y le dijeron: Despide a este hombre, para que se vuelva al lugar que le señalaste, y no venga con nosotros a la batalla, no sea que en la batalla se nos vuelva enemigo; porque ¿con qué cosa volvería mejor a la gracia de su señor que con las cabezas de estos hombres?
5 ¿No es éste David, de quien cantaban en las danzas, diciendo:
Saúl hirió a sus miles,
Y David a sus diez miles?
6 Y Aquís llamó a David y le dijo: Vive Jehová, que tú has sido recto, y que me ha parecido bien tu salida y tu entrada en el campamento conmigo, y que ninguna cosa mala he hallado en ti desde el día que viniste a mí hasta hoy; mas a los ojos de los jefes no agradas.
7 Vuélvete, pues, y vete en paz, para no desagradar a los jefes de los filisteos.
8 Y David respondió a Aquís: ¿Qué he hecho? ¿Qué has hallado en tu siervo desde el día que estoy contigo hasta hoy, para que yo no vaya y pelee contra los enemigos de mi señor el rey?
9 Y Aquís respondió a David, y dijo: Yo sé que tú eres bueno ante mis ojos, como un ángel de Dios; pero los jefes de los filisteos me han dicho: No venga con nosotros a la batalla.
10 Levántate, pues, de mañana, tú y los siervos de tu señor que han venido contigo; y levantándoos al amanecer, marchad.
11 Y se levantó David de mañana, él y sus hombres, para irse y volver a la tierra de los filisteos; y los filisteos fueron a Jizreel.

Los filisteos desconfían de David
29 Los filisteos reunieron todas sus tropas en Afec, en tanto que los israelitas acamparon en el manantial que está en Jezreel. 2 Y cuando los jefes filisteos avanzaban por compañías y batallones, David y sus hombres marchaban con Aquís en la retaguardia. 3 Entonces los jefes filisteos le preguntaron a Aquís:
—¿Qué hacen aquí estos hebreos?
Aquís les respondió:
—Éste es David, que era oficial de Saúl, rey de Israel. Pero ha estado conmigo durante algunos años, y desde el día que se pasó a mi lado hasta hoy no he encontrado en él ninguna falta.
4 Pero los jefes filisteos se enojaron con Aquís, y le dijeron:
—Pues ordénale que se vaya al lugar que le has dado y que no nos acompañe en la batalla; no sea que se convierta en nuestro enemigo en medio del combate. ¡La mejor manera que él tendría de quedar bien con su señor sería presentándole las cabezas de estos soldados! 5 ¡Éste es el mismo David de quien cantaban en las danzas: “Mil hombres mató Saúl, y diez mil mató David”!
6 Entonces Aquís llamó a David y le dijo:
—¡Tan cierto como que el Señor vive, que tú eres un hombre recto! Y me ha gustado mucho la forma en que te has portado en el campamento. No he encontrado nada malo en ti desde el día en que viniste a verme. Pero no les caes bien a los jefes filisteos, 7 así que regresa ahora tranquilo, para no hacer nada que les desagrade.
8 David le contestó:
—¿Qué he hecho yo? ¿Qué ha visto en mí Su Majestad en todo este tiempo, que no me deja luchar contra sus enemigos?
9 Aquís respondió:
—Yo estoy seguro de que eres tan bueno como un ángel de Dios, pero los jefes filisteos han decidido que no entres con nosotros en la batalla. 10 Por lo tanto, tú y los servidores de tu señor que han venido contigo se levantarán mañana, en cuanto amanezca, y emprenderán el regreso.
11 Así pues, David y sus hombres se levantaron al día siguiente por la mañana y regresaron al país filisteo, mientras que los filisteos avanzaban hacia Jezreel.

Achish Sends David Back to Ziklag
29 The Philistines gathered(A) all their forces at Aphek,(B) and Israel camped by the spring in Jezreel.(C) 2 As the Philistine rulers marched with their units of hundreds and thousands, David and his men were marching at the rear(D) with Achish. 3 The commanders of the Philistines asked, “What about these Hebrews?”
Achish replied, “Is this not David,(E) who was an officer of Saul king of Israel? He has already been with me for over a year,(F) and from the day he left Saul until now, I have found no fault in him.”
4 But the Philistine commanders were angry with Achish and said, “Send(G) the man back, that he may return to the place you assigned him. He must not go with us into battle, or he will turn(H) against us during the fighting. How better could he regain his master’s favor than by taking the heads of our own men? 5 Isn’t this the David they sang about in their dances:
“‘Saul has slain his thousands,
and David his tens of thousands’?”(I)
6 So Achish called David and said to him, “As surely as the Lord lives, you have been reliable, and I would be pleased to have you serve with me in the army. From the day(J) you came to me until today, I have found no fault in you, but the rulers(K) don’t approve of you. 7 Now turn back and go in peace; do nothing to displease the Philistine rulers.”
8 “But what have I done?” asked David. “What have you found against your servant from the day I came to you until now? Why can’t I go and fight against the enemies of my lord the king?”
9 Achish answered, “I know that you have been as pleasing in my eyes as an angel(L) of God; nevertheless, the Philistine commanders(M) have said, ‘He must not go up with us into battle.’ 10 Now get up early, along with your master’s servants who have come with you, and leave(N) in the morning as soon as it is light.”
11 So David and his men got up early in the morning to go back to the land of the Philistines, and the Philistines went up to Jezreel.

29 Now the Philistines gathered together all their armies to Aphek: and the Israelites pitched by a fountain which is in Jezreel.
2 And the lords of the Philistines passed on by hundreds, and by thousands: but David and his men passed on in the rereward with Achish.
3 Then said the princes of the Philistines, What do these Hebrews here? And Achish said unto the princes of the Philistines, Is not this David, the servant of Saul the king of Israel, which hath been with me these days, or these years, and I have found no fault in him since he fell unto me unto this day?
4 And the princes of the Philistines were wroth with him; and the princes of the Philistines said unto him, Make this fellow return, that he may go again to his place which thou hast appointed him, and let him not go down with us to battle, lest in the battle he be an adversary to us: for wherewith should he reconcile himself unto his master? should it not be with the heads of these men?
5 Is not this David, of whom they sang one to another in dances, saying, Saul slew his thousands, and David his ten thousands?
6 Then Achish called David, and said unto him, Surely, as the Lord liveth, thou hast been upright, and thy going out and thy coming in with me in the host is good in my sight: for I have not found evil in thee since the day of thy coming unto me unto this day: nevertheless the lords favour thee not.
7 Wherefore now return, and go in peace, that thou displease not the lords of the Philistines.
8 And David said unto Achish, But what have I done? and what hast thou found in thy servant so long as I have been with thee unto this day, that I may not go fight against the enemies of my lord the king?
9 And Achish answered and said to David, I know that thou art good in my sight, as an angel of God: notwithstanding the princes of the Philistines have said, He shall not go up with us to the battle.
10 Wherefore now rise up early in the morning with thy master's servants that are come with thee: and as soon as ye be up early in the morning, and have light, depart.
11 So David and his men rose up early to depart in the morning, to return into the land of the Philistines. And the Philistines went up to Jezreel.
