27 David dit en lui-même: je périrai un jour par la main de Saül; il n'y a rien de mieux pour moi que de me réfugier au pays des Philistins, afin que Saül renonce à me chercher encore dans tout le territoire d'Israël; ainsi j'échapperai à sa main.
2 Et David se leva, lui et les six cents hommes qui étaient avec lui, et ils passèrent chez Akisch, fils de Maoc, roi de Gath.
3 David et ses gens restèrent à Gath auprès d'Akisch; ils avaient chacun leur famille, et David avait ses deux femmes, Achinoam de Jizreel, et Abigaïl de Carmel, femme de Nabal.
4 Saül, informé que David s'était enfui à Gath, cessa de le chercher.
5 David dit à Akisch: Si j'ai trouvé grâce à tes yeux, qu'on me donne dans l'une des villes du pays un lieu où je puisse demeurer; car pourquoi ton serviteur habiterait-il avec toi dans la ville royale?
6 Et ce même jour Akisch lui donna Tsiklag. C'est pourquoi Tsiklag a appartenu aux rois de Juda jusqu'à ce jour.
7 Le temps que David demeura dans le pays des Philistins fut d'un an et quatre mois.
8 David et ses gens montaient et faisaient des incursions chez les Gueschuriens, les Guirziens et les Amalécites; car ces nations habitaient dès les temps anciens la contrée, du côté de Schur et jusqu'au pays d'Égypte.
9 David ravageait cette contrée; il ne laissait en vie ni homme ni femme, et il enlevait les brebis, les boeufs, les ânes, les chameaux, les vêtements, puis s'en retournait et allait chez Akisch.
10 Akisch disait: Où avez-vous fait aujourd'hui vos courses? Et David répondait: Vers le midi de Juda, vers le midi des Jerachmeélites et vers le midi des Kéniens.
11 David ne laissait en vie ni homme ni femme, pour les amener à Gath; car, pensait-il, ils pourraient parler contre nous et dire: Ainsi a fait David. Et ce fut là sa manière d'agir tout le temps qu'il demeura dans le pays des Philistins.
12 Akisch se fiait à David, et il disait: Il se rend odieux à Israël, son peuple, et il sera mon serviteur à jamais.

David se réfugie de nouveau chez les Philistins
27 David réfléchit et se dit : Un jour ou l’autre, Saül finira bien par me tuer. Ce que j’ai de mieux à faire, c’est de m’enfuir pour de bon et de me réfugier au pays des Philistins, pour qu’il renonce à me traquer dans tout le territoire d’Israël ; ainsi j’échapperai à son emprise. 2-3 Là-dessus, David se mit en route avec ses deux femmes, Ahinoam de Jizréel et Abigaïl, femme de Nabal de Karmel, ainsi qu’avec ses six cents hommes et leurs familles ; ils se rendirent chez Akish, fils de Maok, roi de Gath, et s’établirent là. 4 On informa Saül que David s’était enfui à Gath et il cessa de le poursuivre.
5 David dit à Akish : Si tu acceptes de me faire une faveur, autorise-moi à m’installer dans un village quelconque de la campagne. Il n’y a pas de raison pour que ton serviteur réside dans la ville royale avec toi.
6 Alors Akish lui attribua ce même jour Tsiqlag. C’est pourquoi Tsiqlag a appartenu jusqu’à ce jour aux rois de Juda. 7 David demeura un an et quatre mois en Philistie.
Les razzias de David
8 Pendant ce temps, il faisait avec ses hommes des razzias, tour à tour, chez les Gueshouriens, les Guizriens et les Amalécites, des peuplades qui habitaient depuis très longtemps dans le pays qui s’étend en direction de Shour jusqu’à la frontière de l’Egypte. 9 David ravageait cette contrée et ne laissait en vie ni homme ni femme ; il ramenait brebis, chèvres et bœufs, ânes, chameaux et vêtements et, à son retour, se rendait chez Akish.
10 Quand Akish lui demandait : Où avez-vous fait votre razzia cette fois-ci ?
David répondait : Dans le sud de Juda. Ou : Dans la partie sud du territoire des Yerahmeélites ou des Qéniens[a].
11 Il ne laissait pas de survivant pour ne pas avoir à les amener à Gath, afin qu’ils ne rapportent pas les agissements de David. David suivit cette ligne de conduite pendant tout le temps qu’il séjourna en territoire philistin. 12 Akish comptait de plus en plus sur David, car il se disait : Il s’est sûrement attiré la haine d’Israël, son peuple, et il restera pour toujours à mon service.

27 But David thought to himself, “One of these days I will be destroyed by the hand of Saul. The best thing I can do is to escape to the land of the Philistines. Then Saul will give up searching for me anywhere in Israel, and I will slip out of his hand.”
2 So David and the six hundred men(A) with him left and went(B) over to Achish(C) son of Maok king of Gath. 3 David and his men settled in Gath with Achish. Each man had his family with him, and David had his two wives:(D) Ahinoam of Jezreel and Abigail of Carmel, the widow of Nabal. 4 When Saul was told that David had fled to Gath, he no longer searched for him.
5 Then David said to Achish, “If I have found favor in your eyes, let a place be assigned to me in one of the country towns, that I may live there. Why should your servant live in the royal city with you?”
6 So on that day Achish gave him Ziklag,(E) and it has belonged to the kings of Judah ever since. 7 David lived(F) in Philistine territory a year and four months.
8 Now David and his men went up and raided the Geshurites,(G) the Girzites and the Amalekites.(H) (From ancient times these peoples had lived in the land extending to Shur(I) and Egypt.) 9 Whenever David attacked an area, he did not leave a man or woman alive,(J) but took sheep and cattle, donkeys and camels, and clothes. Then he returned to Achish.
10 When Achish asked, “Where did you go raiding today?” David would say, “Against the Negev of Judah” or “Against the Negev of Jerahmeel(K)” or “Against the Negev of the Kenites.(L)” 11 He did not leave a man or woman alive to be brought to Gath, for he thought, “They might inform on us and say, ‘This is what David did.’” And such was his practice as long as he lived in Philistine territory. 12 Achish trusted David and said to himself, “He has become so obnoxious(M) to his people, the Israelites, that he will be my servant for life.(N)”

27 And David said in his heart, I shall now perish one day by the hand of Saul: there is nothing better for me than that I should speedily escape into the land of the Philistines; and Saul shall despair of me, to seek me any more in any coast of Israel: so shall I escape out of his hand.
2 And David arose, and he passed over with the six hundred men that were with him unto Achish, the son of Maoch, king of Gath.
3 And David dwelt with Achish at Gath, he and his men, every man with his household, even David with his two wives, Ahinoam the Jezreelitess, and Abigail the Carmelitess, Nabal's wife.
4 And it was told Saul that David was fled to Gath: and he sought no more again for him.
5 And David said unto Achish, If I have now found grace in thine eyes, let them give me a place in some town in the country, that I may dwell there: for why should thy servant dwell in the royal city with thee?
6 Then Achish gave him Ziklag that day: wherefore Ziklag pertaineth unto the kings of Judah unto this day.
7 And the time that David dwelt in the country of the Philistines was a full year and four months.
8 And David and his men went up, and invaded the Geshurites, and the Gezrites, and the Amalekites: for those nations were of old the inhabitants of the land, as thou goest to Shur, even unto the land of Egypt.
9 And David smote the land, and left neither man nor woman alive, and took away the sheep, and the oxen, and the asses, and the camels, and the apparel, and returned, and came to Achish.
10 And Achish said, Whither have ye made a road to day? And David said, Against the south of Judah, and against the south of the Jerahmeelites, and against the south of the Kenites.
11 And David saved neither man nor woman alive, to bring tidings to Gath, saying, Lest they should tell on us, saying, So did David, and so will be his manner all the while he dwelleth in the country of the Philistines.
12 And Achish believed David, saying, He hath made his people Israel utterly to abhor him; therefore he shall be my servant for ever.

27 ¶ Y dijo David en su corazón: Al fin seré muerto algún día por la mano de Saúl; nada, por tanto, me será mejor que fugarme del todo a la tierra de los filisteos, para que Saúl no se ocupe más de mí, y no me ande buscando más por todos los términos de Israel, y así me escaparé de sus manos.
2 Se levantó, pues, David, y con los seiscientos hombres que estaban con él se pasó a Aquis hijo de Maoc, rey de Gat.
3 Y moró David con Aquis en Gat, él y los suyos, cada uno con su familia; David con sus dos mujeres, Ahinoam jezreelita, y Abigail, la que fue mujer de Nabal el del Carmelo.
4 Y vino la nueva a Saúl que David había huido a Gat, y no lo buscó más.
5 Y David dijo a Aquis: Si he hallado ahora gracia en tus ojos, séame dado lugar en algunas de las ciudades de la tierra, donde habite; porque ¿ha de morar tu esclavo contigo en la ciudad real?
6 Y Aquis le dio aquel día a Siclag. De aquí fue Siclag de los reyes de Judá hasta hoy.
7 Y fue el número de los días que David habitó en la tierra de los filisteos, cuatro meses y algunos días.
8 ¶ Y subía David con los suyos, y hacían entradas contra los gesureos, los gerzeos, y los amalecitas; porque éstos habitaban desde hacia largo tiempo la tierra, desde como se va a Shur hasta la tierra de Egipto.
9 Y hería David la tierra, y no dejaba con vida hombre ni mujer; y se llevaba las ovejas y las vacas y los asnos y los camellos y las ropas; y volvía, y se venía a Aquis.
10 Y decía Aquis: ¿Dónde habéis corrido hoy? Y David decía: Al mediodía de Judá, y al mediodía de Jerameel, o contra el mediodía de Ceni.
11 Ni hombre ni mujer dejaba con vida David, que viniera a Gat; diciendo: Por ventura darían aviso de nosotros, diciendo: Esto hizo David. Y ésta era su costumbre todo el tiempo que moró en tierra de los filisteos.
12 Y Aquis creía a David, diciendo en sí: El se hace abominable en su pueblo de Israel, y así será siempre mi esclavo.
