6 When they came, he looked on (A)Eliab and thought, “Surely the Lord's anointed is before him.” 7 But the Lord said to Samuel, (B)“Do not look on his appearance or on the height of his stature, because I have rejected him. For the Lord sees not as man sees: man looks on the outward appearance, (C)but the Lord looks on the heart.”

16 (E)“‘After this I will return,
and I will rebuild the tent of David that has fallen;
I will rebuild its ruins,
and I will restore it,
17 that the remnant[a] of mankind (F)may seek the Lord,
and all the Gentiles (G)who are called by my name,
says the Lord, who makes these things
