¹⁴ But now ^(A)your kingdom shall not continue. The Lord has sought out a man ^(B)after his own heart, and the Lord has commanded him to be prince^[a] over his people, because you have not kept what the Lord commanded you.”

²¹ Then ^(A)they asked for a king, and God gave them Saul ^(B)the son of Kish, a man of the tribe of Benjamin, for forty years. ²² And ^(C)when he had removed him, ^(D)he raised up David to be their king, of whom he testified and said, ^(E)‘I have found in David the son of Jesse ^(F)a man after my heart, ^(G)who will do all my will.’ ^23 (H)Of this man's offspring God has brought to Israel ^(I)a Savior, Jesus, ^(J)as he promised.
