¹⁴ But ^(A)now your kingdom shall not endure. ^(B)The Lord has sought for Himself a man ^[a]after His own heart, and the Lord has appointed him ruler over His people, because you have not kept what the Lord commanded you.”

²⁰ After these things He ^(A)gave them judges until ^(B)Samuel the prophet. ²¹ Then they ^(C)asked for a king, and God gave them ^(D)Saul the son of Kish, a man of the tribe of Benjamin, for forty years. ²² After He had ^(E)removed him, He raised up David to be their king, concerning whom He also testified and said, ‘^(F)I have found David, the son of Jesse, a man after My heart, who will do all My ^[a]will.’ ^23 (G)From the descendants of this man, ^(H)according to promise, God has brought to Israel ^(I)a Savior, Jesus, ²⁴ after ^(J)John had proclaimed, before ^[b]His coming, a ^(K)baptism of repentance to all the people of Israel.
