10 Tomó entonces Samuel una redoma de aceite, la derramó sobre su cabeza, lo besó, y le dijo:
—¿No te ha ungido Jehová por príncipe sobre su pueblo Israel? 2 Hoy, después que te hayas apartado de mí, hallarás dos hombres junto al sepulcro de Raquel, en Selsa, en el territorio de Benjamín, los cuales te dirán: “Las asnas que habías ido a buscar se han hallado; tu padre ha dejado ya de inquietarse por las asnas, y está afligido por vosotros, y dice: ‘¿Qué haré acerca de mi hijo?’” 3 Más adelante, cuando llegues a la encina de Tabor, te saldrán al encuentro tres hombres que suben a Dios, en Bet-el, llevando uno tres cabritos, otro tres tortas de pan y el tercero una vasija de vino. 4 Luego que te hayan saludado, te darán dos panes, que tú tomarás de su mano. 5 Después de esto llegarás al collado de Dios, donde está la guarnición de los filisteos; y cuando entres en la ciudad encontrarás una compañía de profetas que descienden del lugar alto, precedidos de salterio, pandero, flauta y arpa, y ellos profetizando. 6 Entonces el espíritu de Jehová vendrá sobre ti con poder y profetizarás con ellos, y serás mudado en otro hombre. 7 Cuando se te hayan cumplido estas señales, haz lo que te parezca bien, porque Dios está contigo. 8 Luego bajarás delante de mí a Gilgal; entonces descenderé yo junto a ti para ofrecer holocaustos y sacrificar ofrendas de paz. Espera siete días, hasta que yo vaya a tu encuentro y te enseñe lo que has de hacer.
9 Aconteció luego, que apenas volvió él la espalda para apartarse de Samuel, le mudó Dios el corazón; y todas estas señales acontecieron en aquel día. 10 Cuando llegaron allá al collado, la compañía de los profetas les salió al encuentro. Entonces el espíritu de Dios vino sobre él con poder, y profetizó entre ellos. 11 Todos los que lo conocían de antes, al verlo que profetizaba con los profetas, se decían unos a otros: «¿Qué le ha sucedido al hijo de Cis? ¿Saúl también está entre los profetas?»
12 Y alguno de allí preguntó:
«¿Y quién es el padre de estos?»
Por esta causa se hizo proverbio: «¿También Saúl entre los profetas?»
13 Cuando cesó de profetizar, llegó al lugar alto. 14 Un tío de Saúl dijo a él y a su criado:
—¿A dónde fuisteis?
Él respondió:
—A buscar las asnas; y como vimos que no aparecían, acudimos a Samuel.
15 Dijo el tío de Saúl:
—Te ruego que me cuentes qué os dijo Samuel.
16 Saúl respondió a su tío:
—Nos declaró expresamente que las asnas habían sido halladas.
Pero del asunto del reino, de que Samuel le había hablado, no le contó nada.
17 Después Samuel convocó al pueblo delante de Jehová en Mizpa, 18 y dijo a los hijos de Israel:
«Así ha dicho Jehová, el Dios de Israel: Yo saqué a Israel de Egipto, y os libré de manos de los egipcios y de manos de todos los reinos que os afligieron. 19 Pero vosotros habéis desechado hoy a vuestro Dios, que os guarda de todas vuestras aflicciones y angustias, y habéis dicho: “No, tú nos darás un rey”. Ahora, pues, presentaos delante de Jehová por vuestras tribus y familias.»
20 Samuel hizo acercarse a todas las tribus de Israel, y fue designada la tribu de Benjamín. 21 Hizo que se acercara la tribu de Benjamín por familias, y fue designada la familia de Matri; y de ella fue tomado Saúl hijo de Cis. Lo buscaron, pero no fue hallado. 22 Preguntaron, pues, otra vez a Jehová si aún no había concurrido allí aquel hombre. Y respondió Jehová: «Está ahí, escondido entre el bagaje.» 23 Entonces corrieron, lo sacaron de allí y, puesto en medio del pueblo, sobresalía por encima de todos de los hombros para arriba. 24 Samuel dijo a todo el pueblo:
—¿Habéis visto al elegido de Jehová? No hay nadie como él en todo el pueblo.
Entonces el pueblo gritó con alegría:
—¡Viva el rey!
25 Samuel expuso luego al pueblo las leyes del reino, y las escribió en un libro, el cual guardó delante de Jehová. 26 Y envió Samuel a todo el pueblo cada uno a su casa. Saúl también se fue a su casa en Gabaa, y lo acompañaron los hombres de guerra cuyos corazones Dios había tocado. 27 Pero algunos perversos dijeron: «¿Cómo nos ha de salvar éste?» Lo despreciaron y no le llevaron presentes; pero él disimuló.

10 撒母耳拿一瓶膏油倒在掃羅的頭上，親吻他，說：「耶和華豈不是膏你作他產業的君王嗎？[a] 2 你今日離開我之後，會在便雅憫境內的謝撒，靠近拉結的墳墓，遇見兩個人。他們會對你說：『你要找的幾匹母驢已經找到了。看哪，你父親不為驢子的事掛慮，反為你擔憂，說：我為兒子該做些甚麼呢？』 3 你從那裏往前走，到了他泊的橡樹那裏，會遇見三個往伯特利去敬拜 神的人：一個帶着三隻小山羊，一個帶着三個餅，一個帶着一皮袋酒。 4 他們會向你問安，給你兩個餅，你就從他們手中接過來。 5 然後你要到 神的山去，在那裏有非利士的駐軍。你到了城裏的時候，會遇見一隊先知從丘壇下來，前面有鼓瑟的、擊鼓的、吹笛的、彈琴的，他們都受感說話。 6 耶和華的靈必大大感動你，你就與他們一同受感說話，轉變成另一個人。 7 這徵兆臨到你，你就要趁機做該做的事，因為 神與你同在。 8 你要在我以先下到吉甲。看哪，我必下到你那裏獻燔祭和平安祭。你要等候七日，等我到你那裏指示你當做的事。」
掃羅受感說話
9 掃羅轉身離開撒母耳， 神就改變他，賜給他另一顆心。當日這一切徵兆都應驗了。 10 他們來到那座山，看哪，有一隊先知遇見掃羅。 神的靈大大感動他，他就在先知中受感說話。 11 所有先前認識掃羅的人看見了，看哪，他和先知一同受感說話，百姓就彼此說：「基士的兒子遇見了甚麼呢？掃羅也在先知中嗎？」 12 那地方有一個人說：「這些人的父親是誰呢？」因此就有一句俗語說：「掃羅也在先知中嗎？」 13 掃羅受感說完了話，就上丘壇去了。
14 掃羅的叔叔問掃羅和他的僕人說：「你們到哪裏去了？」他說：「我們找驢子去了。但我們找不到，就去了撒母耳那裏。」 15 掃羅的叔叔說：「告訴我撒母耳對你們說了些甚麼。」 16 掃羅對他的叔叔說：「他明明告訴我們，驢子已經找到了。」至於撒母耳所說君王的事，掃羅沒有告訴叔叔。
抽籤得掃羅為王
17 撒母耳召集百姓到米斯巴耶和華那裏。 18 他對以色列眾人說：「耶和華—以色列的 神如此說：『我領以色列出埃及，救你們脫離埃及人的手，以及脫離欺壓你們各國之人的手。』 19 你們今日卻厭棄救你們脫離一切災禍和患難的 神，對他說：『求你立一個王治理我們。』現在你們應當按支派和宗族站在耶和華面前。」
20 於是，撒母耳叫以色列眾支派近前來抽籤，抽到了便雅憫支派。 21 然後，他叫便雅憫支派按宗族近前來，抽到了瑪特利族，接着又抽到了基士的兒子掃羅。眾人尋找他卻找不到， 22 就再問耶和華說：「那人來到這裏了沒有？」耶和華說：「看哪，他藏在物品堆中。」 23 眾人就跑去從那裏領他出來。他站在百姓中間，比眾百姓高出一個頭。 24 撒母耳對眾百姓說：「你們看到了耶和華所揀選的人嗎？眾百姓中沒有人可以與他相比。」眾百姓就歡呼說：「願王萬歲！」
25 撒母耳將君王的典章對百姓說明，又記在書上，放在耶和華面前，然後撒母耳遣散眾百姓，各回自己的家去了。 26 掃羅也往基比亞自己的家去，有一羣心中被 神感動的勇士跟隨他。 27 但有些無賴之輩說：「這人怎麼能救我們呢？」他們就藐視他，不送禮物給他。掃羅卻保持沉默。

10 Then Samuel took a vial of oil, and poured it upon his head, and kissed him, and said, Is it not because the Lord hath anointed thee to be captain over his inheritance?
2 When thou art departed from me to day, then thou shalt find two men by Rachel's sepulchre in the border of Benjamin at Zelzah; and they will say unto thee, The asses which thou wentest to seek are found: and, lo, thy father hath left the care of the asses, and sorroweth for you, saying, What shall I do for my son?
3 Then shalt thou go on forward from thence, and thou shalt come to the plain of Tabor, and there shall meet thee three men going up to God to Bethel, one carrying three kids, and another carrying three loaves of bread, and another carrying a bottle of wine:
4 And they will salute thee, and give thee two loaves of bread; which thou shalt receive of their hands.
5 After that thou shalt come to the hill of God, where is the garrison of the Philistines: and it shall come to pass, when thou art come thither to the city, that thou shalt meet a company of prophets coming down from the high place with a psaltery, and a tabret, and a pipe, and a harp, before them; and they shall prophesy:
6 And the Spirit of the Lord will come upon thee, and thou shalt prophesy with them, and shalt be turned into another man.
7 And let it be, when these signs are come unto thee, that thou do as occasion serve thee; for God is with thee.
8 And thou shalt go down before me to Gilgal; and, behold, I will come down unto thee, to offer burnt offerings, and to sacrifice sacrifices of peace offerings: seven days shalt thou tarry, till I come to thee, and shew thee what thou shalt do.
9 And it was so, that when he had turned his back to go from Samuel, God gave him another heart: and all those signs came to pass that day.
10 And when they came thither to the hill, behold, a company of prophets met him; and the Spirit of God came upon him, and he prophesied among them.
11 And it came to pass, when all that knew him beforetime saw that, behold, he prophesied among the prophets, then the people said one to another, What is this that is come unto the son of Kish? Is Saul also among the prophets?
12 And one of the same place answered and said, But who is their father? Therefore it became a proverb, Is Saul also among the prophets?
13 And when he had made an end of prophesying, he came to the high place.
14 And Saul's uncle said unto him and to his servant, Whither went ye? And he said, To seek the asses: and when we saw that they were no where, we came to Samuel.
15 And Saul's uncle said, Tell me, I pray thee, what Samuel said unto you.
16 And Saul said unto his uncle, He told us plainly that the asses were found. But of the matter of the kingdom, whereof Samuel spake, he told him not.
17 And Samuel called the people together unto the Lord to Mizpeh;
18 And said unto the children of Israel, Thus saith the Lord God of Israel, I brought up Israel out of Egypt, and delivered you out of the hand of the Egyptians, and out of the hand of all kingdoms, and of them that oppressed you:
19 And ye have this day rejected your God, who himself saved you out of all your adversities and your tribulations; and ye have said unto him, Nay, but set a king over us. Now therefore present yourselves before the Lord by your tribes, and by your thousands.
20 And when Samuel had caused all the tribes of Israel to come near, the tribe of Benjamin was taken.
21 When he had caused the tribe of Benjamin to come near by their families, the family of Matri was taken, and Saul the son of Kish was taken: and when they sought him, he could not be found.
22 Therefore they enquired of the Lord further, if the man should yet come thither. And the Lord answered, Behold he hath hid himself among the stuff.
23 And they ran and fetched him thence: and when he stood among the people, he was higher than any of the people from his shoulders and upward.
24 And Samuel said to all the people, See ye him whom the Lord hath chosen, that there is none like him among all the people? And all the people shouted, and said, God save the king.
25 Then Samuel told the people the manner of the kingdom, and wrote it in a book, and laid it up before the Lord. And Samuel sent all the people away, every man to his house.
26 And Saul also went home to Gibeah; and there went with him a band of men, whose hearts God had touched.
27 But the children of Belial said, How shall this man save us? And they despised him, and brought no presents. But he held his peace.
