Good News Translation
3 Every year Elkanah went from Ramah to worship and offer sacrifices to the Lord Almighty at Shiloh, where Hophni and Phinehas, the two sons of Eli, were priests of the Lord. 4 Each time Elkanah offered his sacrifice, he would give one share of the meat to Peninnah and one share to each of her children. 5 And even though he loved Hannah very much he would give her only one share, because[a] the Lord had kept her from having children.

New International Version
3 Year after year(A) this man went up from his town to worship(B) and sacrifice to the Lord Almighty at Shiloh,(C) where Hophni and Phinehas, the two sons of Eli,(D) were priests of the Lord. 4 Whenever the day came for Elkanah to sacrifice,(E) he would give portions of the meat to his wife Peninnah and to all her sons and daughters.(F) 5 But to Hannah he gave a double portion(G) because he loved her, and the Lord had closed her womb.(H)
