Saul Chosen to Be King

9 There was a man of Benjamin whose name was ^(A)Kish the son of Abiel, the son of Zeror, the son of Bechorath, the son of Aphiah, a Benjamite, a mighty man of ^[a]power.

^51 (A)Kish was the father of Saul, and Ner the father of Abner was the son of Abiel.

^21 (A)And afterward they asked for a king; so God gave them ^(B)Saul the son of Kish, a man of the tribe of Benjamin, for forty years.

³⁶ His firstborn son was Abdon, then Zur, Kish, Baal, Ner, Nadab, ³⁷ Gedor, Ahio, ^[a]Zechariah, and Mikloth. ³⁸ And Mikloth begot ^[b]Shimeam. They also dwelt alongside their relatives in Jerusalem, with their brethren. ^39 (A)Ner begot Kish, Kish begot Saul, and Saul begot Jonathan, Malchishua, Abinadab, and Esh-Baal.

They also dwelt ^[c]alongside their ^[d]relatives in Jerusalem, with their brethren. ^33 (A)Ner^[e] begot Kish, Kish begot Saul, and Saul begot Jonathan, Malchishua, ^[f]Abinadab, and ^[g]Esh-Baal.
