⁷ And the Lord said to Samuel, “Heed the voice of the people in all that they say to you; for ^(A)they have not rejected you, but ^(B)they have rejected Me, that I should not reign over them.

^19 (A)But you have today rejected your God, who Himself saved you from all your adversities and your tribulations; and you have said to Him, ‘No, set a king over us!’ Now therefore, present yourselves before the Lord by your tribes and by your ^[a]clans.”

²⁷ But bring here those enemies of mine, who did not want me to reign over them, and slay them before me.’ ”

^14 (A)But his citizens hated him, and sent a delegation after him, saying, ‘We will not have this man to reign over us.’

⁸ Also Moses said, “This shall be seen when the Lord gives you meat to eat in the evening, and in the morning bread to the full; for the Lord hears your complaints which you make against Him. And what are we? Your complaints are not against us but ^(A)against the Lord.”

^40 (B)“He who receives you receives Me, and he who receives Me receives Him who sent Me.

²⁰ Remember the word that I said to you, ^(A)‘A servant is not greater than his master.’ If they persecuted Me, they will also persecute you. ^(B)If they kept My word, they will keep yours also. ²¹ But ^(C)all these things they will do to you for My name’s sake, because they do not know Him who sent Me.
