⁴ Then they will cry out to the Lord,
    but he will not answer them.^(A)
At that time he will hide his face^(B) from them
    because of the evil they have done.^(C)

¹⁵ When you spread out your hands^(A) in prayer,
    I hide^(B) my eyes from you;
even when you offer many prayers,
    I am not listening.^(C)

Your hands^(D) are full of blood!^(E)

²⁵ since you disregard all my advice
    and do not accept my rebuke,
²⁶ I in turn will laugh^(A) when disaster^(B) strikes you;
    I will mock^(C) when calamity overtakes you^(D)—
²⁷ when calamity overtakes you like a storm,
    when disaster^(E) sweeps over you like a whirlwind,
    when distress and trouble overwhelm you.

²⁸ “Then they will call to me but I will not answer;^(F)
    they will look for me but will not find me,^(G)

¹³ Whoever shuts their ears to the cry of the poor
    will also cry out^(A) and not be answered.^(B)

⁴¹ They cried for help, but there was no one to save them^(A)—
    to the Lord, but he did not answer.^(B)

⁹ Does God listen to their cry
    when distress comes upon them?^(A)
