¹⁰ As Samuel was offering up the burnt offering, the Philistines drew near to attack Israel. ^(A)But the Lord thundered with a mighty sound that day against the Philistines and threw them into confusion, and they were defeated before Israel.

^17 (A)Is it not wheat harvest today? ^(B)I will call upon the Lord, that he may send thunder and rain. And you shall know and see that ^(C)your wickedness is great, which you have done in the sight of the Lord, in asking for yourselves a king.”

^10 (A)And the Lord threw them into a panic before Israel, who^[a] struck them with a great blow at Gibeon and chased them by the way of ^(B)the ascent of Beth-horon and struck them as far as Azekah and Makkedah.

⁶ Then he said to me, “This is the word of the Lord to ^(A)Zerubbabel: ^(B)Not by might, nor by power, but by my Spirit, says the Lord of hosts.

³ and shall say to them, ‘Hear, O Israel, today you are drawing near for battle against your enemies: let not your heart faint. Do not fear or panic or be in dread of them, ⁴ for the Lord your God is he who goes with you ^(A)to fight for you against your enemies, to give you the victory.’

¹⁸ And there were ^(A)flashes of lightning, rumblings,^[a] peals of thunder, and ^(B)a great earthquake ^(C)such as there had never been since man was on the earth, so great was that earthquake. ^19 (D)The great city ^(E)was split into three parts, and the cities of the nations fell, and God ^(F)remembered ^(G)Babylon the great, ^(H)to make her drain the cup of the wine of the fury of his wrath. ²⁰ And ^(I)every island fled away, and no mountains were to be found. ²¹ And ^(J)great hailstones, about one hundred pounds^[b] each, fell from heaven on people; and ^(K)they cursed God for ^(L)the plague of the hail, because the plague was so severe.
