⁴ And when they arose early the next morning, there was Dagon, fallen on its face to the ground before the ark of the Lord. ^(A)The head of Dagon and both the palms of its hands were broken off on the threshold; only ^[a]Dagon’s torso was left of it.

¹¹ Thus you shall say to them: ^(A)“The gods that have not made the heavens and the earth ^(B)shall perish from the earth and from under these heavens.”

⁸ And he shall also carry their gods captive to Egypt, with their ^[a]princes and their precious articles of silver and gold; and he shall continue more years than the king of the North.

⁴ Then your altars shall be desolate, your incense altars shall be broken, and ^(A)I will cast down your slain men before your idols. ⁵ And I will lay the corpses of the children of Israel before their idols, and I will scatter your bones all around your altars. ⁶ In all your dwelling places the cities shall be laid waste, and the ^[a]high places shall be desolate, so that your altars may be laid waste and made desolate, your idols may be broken and made to cease, your incense altars may be cut down, and your works may be abolished.
